So. My local Virgin mobile was closed for over a month during lockdown. Every other phone company was open on emergency basis because cellphones are an essential service. I lost my cellphone by complete accident. Do you think I could get assistance from the phone company I've been paying into for ... 9 years? The one that would not cancel a gig on a tablet that I never use? No. I got "we will send you a sim card via expedited shipping" Its been almost 3 weeks and it never arrived. That's unacceptable. When I phoned about it I was told they where opening up a week after lockdown ended, for 3 days a week and you had to book an appt. All appt where booked already and it was suggested I go to a virgin mobile in another city. Then virgin mobile tried to sell me internet over and over with invasive questions. This despite being unable to properly update my address after informing them to do so for 2 years. Last sat I went to wireless wave and got a new Sim.. After being told that... "You have an outstanding balance so virgin is blocking our attempt to sign you up for a new plan." I'd paid most of my balance a few days before after being unable to bank due to loss of phone. Virgins new policy meant that I could not add it to a future tab and pay it Off over time. This is a company that sent out threatening texts messages during the start of covid to customers that where a week late on payments.. about cutting service.. So they demand payment but refuse to offer service? When I got to the now open mall kiosk I was told by a worker that they did that to protect the workers, and everything can be done on the phone." Hi. Its been a year since covid started. Virgin mobile should have assessed the situation by now and come up with an appropriate way to handle it that still offered emergency services. What if I was a client that needed a phone for heath reasons? Or one that needed one for work? Thank God my boss is forgiving. But. I am an essential worker. I was expected to work. I rode the bus to work or my bike when busses weren't running due to covid. I was expected to find solutions. Yet virgin mobile can fuck around. I had insurance. That I didn't know I was paying for. There where issues in that.. When my phone broke the first time.. I bought a replacement. I wasn't informed by virgin mobile about the insurance I had. When the phone was lost I was told about it by best buy mobile. By then it was too late. The insurance wanted to know why I had 2 phones..after a week if back and fourth. Said they could do nothing without receipts. Told me to go to vigin. Virgin told me to go to the insurance and that they could do nothing about it. That's like.. over 300 dollars wasted. I was by this time a stressed wreck.. also furious. Which is understandable. This was all bullshit. I would honestly like a refund on my time and energy, also on the almost 3 weeks I was unable to access service. But I don't expect virgin mobile to do shit. I left virgin mobile after 9 years. I went with a company that had emergency services open for it's customers. I thought to myself.. "What happens if there's an emergency in the future"? Obviously @Virgin won't support future problems since.. after a year they clearly Don't have proper plans set up to support customers during emergencies and, in an Era of climate change and late stage capitalism that's a major problem. Virgin mobile has terrible service. And it would rather double down on on its bad service and harmful to customers practices... then to properly take care of its customers. Don't ever buy or work with virgin mobile. It has lit been an Odessa of nightmares. Because they are more concerned with getting money out of you.. then actually serving you.
