Would you consider Lux to be an independent person? Does she have control of her livelihood, her wealth and assets, her day-to-day schedule? To what degree does she consider herself 'free' and how does she feel about the sacrifices and concessions she might have had to make to get those freedoms? What is her opinion on the different social classes in Demacia / how does she act with them? And most importantly, will she pat Sona's head? (virtuous-dignity)
i think lux is independent somewhat. she does not necessarily control her livelihood too much, as she’s still a crownguard & lives in the city manor that is provided by her family, so she doesn’t have to pay for her expenses. she’s currently a volunteer for the illuminators - i think of them as a religious, non-profit organization, so she’s not making much income, if any at all. she does get a monthly stipend from her parents to spend, since they are happy luxanna has found her place within the illuminators, although they sort of wish she was still in high silvermere tending to the crownguard estate. garen & aunt tianna watch over her within the city manor, so she’s not that free to do whatever she likes, but they used to trust her and let her wander off on her own. her day-to-day schedule was of her own volition, as it seems garen & tianna didn’t really care where she went until they saw all those missing books & found out she was hanging out with sylas in the dungeons. nowadays, she’s sort of stuck. garen is still in the infirmary ( that might change depending on what happens in the comic releasing tomorrow ), and tianna is very disappointed with lux so her current freedoms might be stripped from her at the moment!
lux, in general, feels trapped. she never truly felt free in demacia, considering she can’t be herself in the public eye, especially as a crownguard. she’d throw her family name into a scandal, and maybe she already has with the whole sylas situation. despite what happened, she can’t deny that his teachings offered her a bit of freedom. now, she can freely control her magic and stop fearing that she will be caught by mageseekers ( idk how she hasn’t before tbh ). with this though, comes with the feeling of immense guilt. she is the person who set sylas loose, no matter how good her intentions were and she knows this. she did not think he would absorb her magic & blast everyone at the execution, but that doesn’t change the fact that he did and she was a catalyst. she also believes she is the reason garen is currently in critical condition, both of them ignorant to his own magic. & with sylas planning to set off a devastating explosion in / with the palace, she is… needless to say, upset.
her opinion on the social classes is not radical like say, sylas, but she is not satisfied with them either like garen. she recognizes now that she is fortunate enough to have her mistakes covered for her simply because she is a crownguard, but other mages that aren’t noble don’t have the same luck. it is mentioned that sylas began having doubts about his loyalty when he saw noble-born mages being protected from the law but those of lower classes were not. lux does not necessarily want to get rid of the classes because she does enjoy her authority & wealth, but she won’t treat those lower than her with any disrespect. in her ideal vision of demacia, no one would be persecuted against for anything they couldn’t control: such as being born with magic, where they came from, etc. she’s a compassionate individual, and she would never let status get in the way of her friendship / relationship with someone.
& last but not least, of course she would pat sona’s head!!
