I was going through all my pictures and stumbled across thisā¦ these beautiful flowers were a sweet surprise from Jill, when she went to go show me our new apartment.
It also happened to be on our 3 year anniversary as wellā¦ itās hard to believe this was taken 3 months ago. She truly is amazingā¦š
Today Iām going into the city with Jillās dad because I have an appointment with this program that teaches Dutch, that helps you find a job, and things like that. Of course Iām beyond nervousā¦ taking the first step anywhere new, let alone in a foreign country is always the hardest. This will be something good for me to help getting situated living here fullyā¦ so hereās to hoping everything goes well.

Hi guys! As I have mentioned before, our companyās sending me to Moscow this coming September 11-16 to attend a seminar together with our other executive heads. I was so thrilled when I got this news because honestly speaking, I didnāt really expect it. Who wouldāve thought that they would pick me to go with them? I didnāt even know that there was such thing. I only knew that they send people to go to Hong Kong or China to attend fairs and source out for suppliers and new items. Because I got to experience it last May.
Ā It actually came as a surprise to me that there arenāt really much documents needed when applying for a Russian Visa.Ā Unlike any other visa applications, you donāt need to present bank account statements or pre-booked flights and visa application letter. They only require three things:
Passport (valid for at least 6 months after intended departure date)
2 passport size photo (plain white background with signature at the back)
Approved Travel Voucher
Now, the kinda tricky part here is getting a travel voucher. You can get this one from the hotel youāll be staying in or from a travel agency. I also saw some websites where you can request your invitation letter / travel voucher. As for us, we got our letter from the hotel that weāll be staying in for the rest of our trip. They were also kind enough to send us via courier the original copies of our voucher. Hereās what ours looks like.
In our case, we had an agent help us submit and process our visa application so that we wonāt have to make a physical appearance anymore. You can also submit your electronic visa application form from this website which is what we did. It will give you an application number. The reference and confirmation number can be found on the travel voucher provided to you by your hotel or travel agency. Visa fees are as follows:
Php 5000.00 (Regular) ā Two weeks processing
Php 8500.00 (Express) ā One week processing
Iām not sure though for the visa fee if this is really the cost because I saw in another website that itās only around 3,000-7,000 for the regular and express process. But this is what was given to us by our agent. Or maybe the site wasnāt just updated. Hereās what my Russian Visa looks like.
Canāt believe Iāll be off to my 3rd country and 3rd continent for this year! Its such an honour to be representing our company for this yearās Hallmark Licensing and Distributorās Seminar. Iāll get to meet other people from Hallmark all over the globe. This is really such a great opportunity and I canāt thank my company enough for the trust and confidence they have in me.
Iām kinda nervous tho because I will be sharing a room with another representative of Hallmark from Finland. We kinda traded emails before and man, I mean Iām not so good myself in speaking the English language but her English thoughā¦ I feel like were gonna have quite a hard time communicating with each other. I agreed to share a room when our manager asked me if its okay cos you know, I donāt want to seem choosy or something. And I take it as a challenge. So there, I hope this helps those who has plans on visiting Russia :-)
Update (another long overdue one): Sorry to any of our followers that do take the time to check our blog, and read these random updates. Jill and I have been very busy spending time together, and going through the whole visa process. It's so very stressful and these last four months have flown by so fast! Jill and I got to go to antwerp pride together for the second time a couple weeks ago... we got to take our dog Loki to the parade, saw the painted rainbow crosswalks (they are so pretty!), listen to live music by the fabulous drag queens and other Belgian artists. We are also settling into our new apartment, and absolutely love it. We also got to get our bedroom and bathroom repainted (no more horrible ugly red wall in the bedroom! lol) It's starting to actually feel more and more like our place, it's nice to finally share a home together. We also had another appointment at the city hall, and I FINALLY got my orange card (temporary card) and now we have to wait another six months for them to make a decision. But now I'm able to legally get a job here, and the whole process of learning Dutch is about to start. (So nervous!) I'm not going to lie, this whole process has been so stressful and has driven my anxiety through the roof. I'm so thankful for Jill being so amazing, patient, and understanding throughout this process. She continues to be my rock, and we make such an amazing team together. Closing the distance is no easy feat whatsoever, it'll push you both to your limits for sure. But it's also has made our relationship that much stronger. Cannot wait for these next six months not only spent together, but to experience Belgium life fully finally with work and learning the language, and to finally hear the final decision (hopefully it'll be good news!) Even though I have horrible anxiety and stress about everything, I'm going to try my best to overcome this... and embrace these new and life changing experiences with Jill, and us to build a life together... one that is no longer shared 5,000+ miles away. Update: (A really long overdue one) It's now been two months since Loki and I have came back home... cannot believe it, time has flown by like it always does. We have been so busy with not only the visa process, but moving to our bigger and nicer place! Jill showed me the apartment when we got the keys last week, and it was even more beautiful in person. She did an amazing job on picking out the place, Loki loves all the windows to look out of. This whole week has consisted of moving all the things before the movers get here next week... and burning up and sweating to death... there has been an unusual heat wave here in Belgium, feels like I'm still back in Texas, but here they don't have A/C. So yay. lol We are currently waiting on hearing back from the city hall of what to do next... we did get approved for the legally living together document (YAY!) so hopefully this means good things. I've been worried about it so much, but Jill has been staying positive. She really is the best girlfriend ever...ā¤ Our three year anniversary is this Tuesday, no idea what Jill has planned... she's a little sneaky like that. š Cannot believe it's going to be three years... is it me, or does it go by faster when you've been in a long distance relationship? And when you've found that person finally? Jill has all of next week off (Yay!!) I'm hoping that we can go take Loki to the beach sometime during next week. Loki and I are having beach withdrawals! Anyways, we hope that our followers are doing okay.
