to give chase
-> Tobias "Toby" Rogers x FEM!Reader
Summary: Running away from your problems has always been easy enough. A job, a person, a situation, anything could be run away from if you tried hard enough, except this problem. This problem, who was now about 20 yards behind you, just didn't seem to leave you alone.
note: hello, hello, hi. I missed you guys so much. Life has been crazy, I caught pneumonia, etc etc. I hope this makes up for it, as I know I've really been neglecting my audience.
Warning(s): None, lowk toxic relationship
Shoes pounded the forest floor, breaths labored as dodging trees became your priority. You didn't care about the screams behind you, you didn't care about the blood pouring down your arm, no, you only cared about finding the road, finding someone to actually aid you. Your head pounded, daylight was fleeting, and the creatures that roamed these woods at night were far worse than the evil you were attempting to escape. You could hear him, damn near feel him. He was screaming your name, his voice rough and had an edge to it, like a knife. You wanted to yell, to shout at him to leave you alone, but it would be all for naught. He wouldn't listen to reason, much less listen to you.
Toby stared, watching your fleeting figure weave through trees. Trees he'd known for ages, trees that he'd run victims up many times beforehand, and in his mind, this was no different. This was all too much fun for him. Toby knew it would take you 9 minutes to reach the road and even longer to find someone willing to leave you, a bleeding, wild-eyed girl, into their car? Nevertheless, he bound after you, axe in hand, as he screamed your name. He would never want to do this, he never wanted to draw blood, your blood. Toby knawed at his cheek, scanning for your familiar figure. His legs carried him further, his eyes darting between the gaps of the trees. It was almost a relief when he heard your screams of agony. Toby smiled, a sick, twisted thing that tugged at the corner of his lips. Dusk was falling, and there were things out here far worse and far more dangerous than he was, and he knew you well enough to know you'd come running the second they reared their ugly fucking heads. The only thing he had to do was wait.
Besides the sharp breaths that escaped past your chapped lips, his room was quiet. Toby's hands held your leg still, studying the wound torn into your lower thigh. He was in his right mind to leave you, but he wouldn't be a doting, loving, forgiving boyfriend if he did that, now would he? You stared at the wound, blood smeared across your thigh, mud caked onto your aching legs. They burned from your escapade, muscles tense and taunt as Toby's large palms worked your calf. His eyes, those fucking eyes that bore so deeply into your soul, were cold now, almost. His browns held a darker, more animalistic lining. " I told you they were out there, didn't I?" his voice was rough, cracking like an old piece of wood, it was raw from his screaming. You nodded, chewing at your lower lip. A sigh escaped his throat, brows furrowed as he tentatively drew his rather pitiful first aid collection.
You winced at the sting of the alcohol, ignoring the snicker from the man before you. He wasn't gentle by any means, but he was nursing you, and right now, that's all you could ask for. His calloused hands tore at the gauze, you stared, weariness setting in as the adrenaline finally wore off. Toby hummed, turning his attention to you. His hand made its way to your jaw, forcing your eyes to meet his. " I should've left you, you know. Should've turned an-and le-let let let that THING take y-y-you, but I-I I f-fucking didn't. I d-do every fucking t-thing to make you you you comfortable and you f-fucking run. " Toby seethed, stuttering as his grip on your jaw tightened. You nodded as much as you could through his grip. Toby sneered, releasing your jaw roughly, watching with hardened eyes as you rubbed the sore joint.
Toby's teeth clenched as he snapped in front of your face, watching your tired eyes meet his. There was fear behind your eyes, fear that it would be your neck that would find the head of your almost lover's axe head buried in.
" Fucking beg, scream, hit, I don't give a fuck what you do, sunshine, but you're stuck here, with me, until that thing is done with the both of us. "
