I know I promised to wait until you returned from Paris. And, darling, you have my word that I’ve tried. But, Raoul, something has happened. I can’t wait any longer for you. My life is at stake if I do.
Raoul... I’m with child. Madame still doesn’t know about our wedding. But if she finds out about our baby, she will kill me. I have to leave, now. I’ve packed my most cherished things, and I’m waiting for night to fall so I can escape. I’ve sent this letter ahead of me with Farmer John, but still, I plan on leaving for Paris tonight.
I don’t know if you’ve met with your brother yet, or what he’s said. I can only pray that he wasn’t too cross with us. If all goes well, I should be in the city the day after tomorrow. Hopefully, that will be enough time for you two to talk if you have not yet. Still, to be safe, I’ll wait for you in Notre Dame. I’ll see if I can find some way to get a note to you when I arrive.
Raoul, I’m frightened. I never thought things would come crashing down on us so soon. But I have faith in you and in our love. We will make it through this, as we have all else.
I love you, Raoul, and we’ll be with you soon.
Yours
@viscountsailed
