WARDS ARE SO DIFFERENT NOW...and trinkets?
Evelynn
The Widowmaker started out as one of the most broken, OP champions in the game with stealth AND a 2 second stun. This was before I started playing in summer of 2011. Riot and Nerfmaster Morello punished her by nerfing her into obilivion. She stayed this way for a year or two until they buffed her like hell. She became an absolute monster mid lane with her rework; if you didn't ban Evelyn 8 or so months ago, you HAD to buy pink wards or you would be ganked all day every day. Then, Riot decided she was too OP again so they gutted her ultimate. Today, Evelyn is still a pretty strong champion, but she misses the days where she was a queen.
- Clear time: A
It's fast, almost as fast as the god-tier clears like Mundo or Shyvana. With blue buff, Evelyn can spam her Hate Spike to ram her way through the camps. With some AP runes, this goes by even faster. With a fast clear, Evelynn can pull of some counter-jungling shenanigans such as stealing slow clearers' red buffs before they even finish wraiths.
- Ganking: B pre 6, A- after level 6
Evelynn's ability to bypass green wards completely unseen is a major advantage over every jungler. This allows her to get ganks off in bot lane, the most warded lane. She lacks CC, though, so she has to focus on poking the target and scaring them off. Once Evelynn obtains her ultimate, Agony's Embrace, she can not only boost her defenses in a gank, but she also has an AoE slow. It's not a hard CC, but for ganking on bot lane, Evelynn can guarantee a kill or two. She's arguably one of the best bot-lane gankers in the game for this.
- Gold efficiency: B-
Evelynn needs a lot of damaging items normally, but her build is truly unique in the jungle. She goes for a hybrid "burn" build, focusing on Lizard Elder and Liandry's. Afterwards, she builds like a Hecarim and gets mostly tanky items like Icebourne Gauntlet or Abyssal Scepter. Fortunately, all of her early game items and core build have cheap components and can be built piece by piece. By endgame, she should have enough kills and farm to be able to farm her way to a bruiser-like state.
- Buff dependency: C, Varies
Evelynn really likes her blue buff for clearing, but an early red buff helps her invade or gank. Her clearing speed is limited by mana, so blue buff alleviates this issue.
However, since Evelynn is known for her ganking and counter-jungling, her usefulness also relies in how successful she is in stealing enemys camps and buffs, and perhaps their lives. It depends on your chosen play style with her. If you want to farm up to level 4 ASAP, yes, she's pretty blue reliant. If you focus on shutting the enemy jungler down, she prefers red, but is more focused on getting kills and steals in.
- Multiple Advantages: C+
Evelynn doesn't offer much other than damage and a soft initiating ability with her ultimate. She could, in theory, act as an assassin, but there are other champions who suit that better. She gets a "plus" only because of stealth. Stealth alone forces the enemy to spend extra gold on pink wards and oracles.
- Useful at all stages: A-
If you make full use of Evelynn's kit to gank and shut the enemy down early, she's pretty useful. Her midgame is incredible and is usually when she begins to snowball. You can contests buffs and objectives pretty easily with Evelynn's kit as well. She's no tank, but man does she pack a...claw? I'm saving the "pack a punch" idea for Vi.
- Are there other lanes? Maybe (Mid lane)
Several months ago, Evelynn was one of the most deadly mid lane picks in the game until they nerfed her ultimate's damage. In the current metagame, she isn't terribly useful mid, but she's not worthless either. I find her roaming abilities better suited to the jungle, though. She can also afford to build with more bulk there, too.
You know, maybe if Evelynn put some clothes on, she wouldn't be so squishy and we could build less tanky...
