Book Your Adventure Invites Members to Participate in Bermuda Event
Book Your Adventure invites its members to participate in Bermuda’s Harbour Nights.
This popular “block party” occurs on Wednesday nights from May through August in the city Hamilton, as a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of this Caribbean island. This is a time for Bermudans to display their music, art, and culture. During the day members can observe local crafters and artisans exhibiting their wares along
Front Street with diverse foodies sharing their various local delicacies for everyone to taste. Then performances are offered for the nightly street parties. In terms of island art, vendors along the street exhibit and sell their homemade jewelry, Gombey dolls, and watercolor paintings.
Culinary specialties in Bermuda like fish chowder, Hoppin John, deep-fried donuts, and other international foods can be tasted along the block.
In the evenings, members of Book Your Adventure can toast each other while watching the sunset over Hamilton Harbour. Once nightfall hits, everyone can gather to watch the Gombey Dance Troupes in action while wearing colorful costumes and headdresses. As they move down the street the mixed sounds of African, Bermudan, and British music are played by the musicians with goatskin drums, tin whistles, and beer-bottle fifes. This event has received the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor.
While members may love participating in this festival, if they would like to take a break from it, there are other activities available on Front Street.
Shopping at the various boutiques along the colonial style buildings painted in shades of blues and yellows will be a great way to mix it up. These retail shops sell a variety of high-end clothes, jewelry, souvenirs and the classic Bermudan rum.
Book Your Adventure members will also want to try out some of the local restaurants lined along the street and then top the evening off at one of the pubs serving various spirits. For art enthusiasts of the group, walking through the Bermuda National Gallery will open your eyes to artifacts from Africa, Bermuda, and Europe. Or maybe some of you can gather and take in a play, dance performance, or concert at City Hall Theatre a venue for such events.
Another attraction that would be fun for the family is Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute filled with interactive submarine exhibits and shipwreck displays with treasure troves of coins, crosses, and other trinkets.
The kids will love the collection of over 1,200 seashells with all manner of colors, sizes and shapes. Then Book Your Adventure members can take their families to the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo to enjoy the 140,000 fish and an outdoor seal exhibit that has feeding times and kids interactive activities.
Don’t forget to stroll over to the 36-acre Botanical Gardens filled with an aromatic garden, palm grove, hibiscus plants and a tropical fruit garden all on display.
There are always people who prefer more physical activities when they travel and some of the Book Your Adventure members do stand out in that manner. Snorkeling boat trips and glass-bottom catamaran trips, and are also available to take advantage of watersports are all fun activities that members will seek out on the island of Bermuda.
