On the night of April 18th, 1775. Two lanterns were lit atop the spire of the Old North Church in #Boston signaling the British would arrive “by sea” to seize arms and arrest Revolutionary leaders. . . This was the signal for #PaulRevere to start what is known as his “Midnight Ride”. From his home in the North End, Revere was rowed across the Charles River Landing in Charlestown from where he made his way across Medford and out to Lexington to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams and the further on to Concord where he was captured in the early hours of April 19th. . Another rider William Dawes took a different route down Boston Neck through Roxbury, Brookline & Cambridge. You’ll find some bronze horse shoes in the pavement just before Cambridge Common commemorating his path. #igersboston #igersnewengland #newengland_igers #massachusetts_igers #historical #AmericanRevolution #VisitBiston #VisitMA #travelblog #travelbloggers (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwZxLvLgDUo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1q94gockxcfsm
