Looks like I missed my Monday update this week--it’s been a bit crazy for sure. As I write this, I'm listening to my SO ramble about ice cream. (Typing updates while trying to curb his adorable impulse shopping is pretty fun).
Writing: I did not write a whole lot this week. I did a little (on both Marc and Elliot's routes) but I've been focusing my efforts toward things that are necessary for the demo release, and working on the character routes isn't top priority at the moment.
I did a lot of outlining for Elliot's route and finally have his plot pretty well nailed down – I was really struggling with the second half of his story but it's all worked out now. Just have to get it written.
The full edit for the common route is coming along as well.
Artwork: I started work on a new background – the outside of the school. It's turning out better than I thought it would, frankly. Buildings are not my forte at all but it's looking pretty reasonable at this point so I'm pleased. I only have the lines and flats so we'll see how pleased I stay once I start trying to shade it. LoL
But at this point, I have hope!
Coding: I found a coder (the lovely Ayano) to code the basic GUI. As you can see above, there's now a fully cohesive GUI in place. I'm so excited. OuO
A lot of time this week was just spent corresponding back and forth over the GUI, then implementing it (and subsequently breaking at least one thing. LoL) and working out a few little bugs. Looks like everything is working for now so I am pleased with that. >3
The GUI was probably the biggest change this week. There are, of course screen caps of some of the various screens above.
Summary: Did lots of work this week – all toward the goal of being able to release an official demo by mid-January. My main goal is to get a couple of other backgrounds finished, and to do a really good edit to try to catch any remaining typos or issues with the writing.
On another note - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope everyone has an awesome next few days. OwO Thank you to everyone who’s been following and sticking with us through this slightly crazy journey!
