Visual Process
I begun the process of visualising my work with a series of sketches. My idea was to sketch out each of the ‘landscapes’ the listener could explore whilst engaging with my website and with the aquatic theme being the creative catalyst for creating the music, the visuals had to follow suit. I begun to sketch with textures in mind, which is similar to how I mapped out the tracks; I thought of sponges, sea anemones, coral, porcelain, tiles, glass, smooth plastic and chalk. Drawing each landscape with crayons allowed me to apply different pressures at different points to visualise those textures as much as I possibly could. However, in order to accurately convey to other people the ideas I had in my head, I had to digitally mock-up the textures in Photoshop. I drew out the shapes with the pen tool, then inserted images to fit into them and then re-coloured them according to my illustrations. This was a success in my eyes as my ideas were translated into a format in which everyone could understand the tangibility or physicality of the objects beyond a 2D sketch.
