Hi Doug, Have you heard of these new gel products by Gelish called Vitagel? I’m curious to try them out, but before I do, I’d like to hear what you think about them first. I guess I’m confused about how they work. They claim to provide your nails with 3 different vitamins, but are they absorbed into the nail plate once they are cured or maybe the vitamins are absorbed into the nail plate while they are being cured? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Doug Schoon I don’t think you’ll have a lot of success feeding vitamins to the nails via topical application. The nail plate does not absorb these types of substances very well. In fact the nail plate is a barrier that is very difficult to penetrate. Topical application of Vitamin E can have a antioxidant effect on the nails, but to my knowledge, this is the only example of a vitamin-like substance that can be topically applied to the surface of the nail to provide actual benefits.
