Nova’s voice was barely above a mutter, but a part of her knew that Bellamy could hear her perfectly clearly on the other side of the desk. This was most likely the most boring of the tasks given to the interns yet, and they had done some pretty boring stuff in the last month. Well, at least for Nova it was. She absolutely hated history, and didn’t understand how some-- namely, Bellamy-- could actually enjoy it.

Truth be told Nova loved science, but when her father passed during junior year and her mother, Eliza, took custody of she and her brother, Augustus, things had been different. Eliza didn’t agree with anything that Atticus had done in his life, especially devoting much of it to science, so when Nova wanted to go into the same field she laid down the law; if Nova wanted her mother to pay for her schooling-- like she had agreed to do for Augustus-- Nova would have to major in anything but a science.

And in the end, Eliza had chosen World History, even knowing that her daughter hated the subject. But Eliza hadn’t cared about Nova for the  first sixteen years of her life, why would she start caring now?

Like clockwork, Nova’s computer decided it was time to break down again. Every day she had an issue with one of the computers at the museum she was interning at, and whenever it did this, none of her work was saved. Today, she was dating artifacts, and was nearly finished when her computer decided to shut down. And she was mad.

                         “Dammit!”

Of course, following the profanity, Nova banged down on the desk before putting her head in her hands.
