Got a slumped piece back. When did I even make this one? I'll have to check my records to be sure. The larger piece of silver leaf worked much better than the smaller pieces.
The vitrigraph was available during this class, and every student had a chance to use it. I think I might still be pulling too fast, as I tend to generally get nearly straight pieces of glass out of it.
The glass I bought a little while ago was the main focus of the day. I decided on a design that would make use of the pattern bar slices, vitrigraph pieces, and the greens and yellow glass I bought. It took a bit too long to decide on what to do with the two different greens, but I settled on alternating stripes with a second layer of stripes on top. Nothing has been glued down yet, though, so I still have plenty of time to change my mind.

Today, we learned about the vitrigraph. It is a machine that heats glass and dispenses it through a hole on the bottom. Think of it like a frozen yogurt machine. Only, instead of yogurt, you get glass, and instead of being cold, it is 1600 degrees F, and instead of pulling a lever, you pull on the glass with your gloved hands, and instead of putting it into a cup or cone, you just sort of let it fall on the ground. Also, there are no toppings. Other than that, it is just like a frozen yogurt machine.
Also unlike a frozen yogurt machine, it is not easy to use. I have no idea what to do with these pieces of glass I have, but I don't need to use them immediately.
Next class, I will continue work on my large design.
