My New Blog Policies: What, Why and How
This is something I've been meaning to do for many months now, but I keep unintentionally distancing from tumblr in large spurts. However, just last night I finally went through and did all the deep cleaning I needed to be able to make this statement.
I am no longer a teenager. Because of this, my blog will officially be MDNI. I don’t feel comfortable with it past this point, and I personally don’t think that any adult should regardless of the content that is posted. (Note. This does not mean that anyone has individually made me upset or uncomfortable. This is something that nobody needs to apologize for! This is a safety precaution, not a fault.)
I will immediately begin to treat this blog like a MDNI blog. I'll be limiting my engagements only to blogs with adult ages in their bios. (this wasn’t really an issue anyways since i’ve never really been notorious for messaging or even reblogging many people on tumblr in the first place, but it’s good to explain my intentions.) However, I will be very gracious during this time to everyone who is gradually finding out, slowly doing whatever they need to do because of this new announcement, and making the transition. I don’t expect everyone to immediately take action. (I have over 800 followers, after all.)
Despite the fact that I know and recognize that I have handled myself cordially and professionally around everyone in my time on this site, I feel allowing myself to permit minors to engage with my content is contributing to a larger problem of adults that do not uphold that same standard. Although I completely understand that we cannot control or ban those under the age of 18 from being in this community, nor do I ever intend to, I cannot and will not be a part of that engagement. I heavily prioritize minor safety in any and all communities. I want you all, regardless of age, to be safe and well taken care of, because I was hurt so many times in this community by those who were seeking to take advantage of children. Please protect yourself and know the signs of abuse, regardless of age. You are important and do not deserve poor treatment.
With this being addressed, there will also be some slight changes to the policies of this blog. I hope you understand.
From this point forward, no art or content of any character under the age of 18 will be posted on this blog, and any content involving this trope has been deleted without warning. I will never accuse anyone in this community of being unsafe just because they indulge in this trope. Realistically, I know the vast majority of people here are doing it for themselves, to heal and grieve over their own childhoods. I have done the same. However, I’m beginning to notice certain blogs are posting content like this in a way that isn’t safe. Child characters being used as mascots for adult pleasure. Child characters being put into adult situations with adult characters. Child characters being asked questions about their bodies on ask blogs by minors and adults. All under the guise that it’s “wholesome” and “sfw”. This is dangerous behavior. It is not familial. Although I have not indulged in anything remotely close to this, I myself never wanted my art or my intentions to be related to content creators that do. I also came upon the horrific thought of: ‘What if an unsafe individual has saved my art to a file on their computer for their own personal pleasure?’ It's a horrifying thought that left me extremely devastated. Even if I can recognize that the art I was posting was tasteful, considerate and harmless, I could not allow it to be featured on my blog any longer. With all these things considered, I am not comfortable with creating or posting content along these lines. If you create content in a similar fashion, you might want to consider your options pertaining to this kind of content because of the reasons above.
Although anonymous asks will still be enabled, I will not endorse any interactions, messages, asks, submissions or otherwise from anyone under the age of 18. If you intend to message me personally on tumblr, (Which I don’t really do much of in the first place), you MUST have an age in your bio.
I’m allowing anonymous asks to stay on. I am keeping it as an option for those who aren’t comfortable exposing their mains. I feel this to be a given in this community, and always respect user privacy. Please do not abuse this system. I do not want to have to turn it off because those who are in my DNI are disrespecting it.
Some instances of ageless characters may not be tolerated here anymore. I’ll elaborate on this more in a future section, but characters that do not have an age who pass as more ‘child coded’ will not be featured on this blog. An example I have of this is ‘Doey the Doughman’ from Poppy Playtime. Because it’s an active crucial debate in his canon lore if he is a child(ren) or not, I don’t feel comfortable personally featuring characters of his manner on this blog. This is not an attack, accusation of indecency or judgement on others that may, though. I hope you understand!
With all of these changes, here are some things that will continue to stay the same and you should expect from my blog!
Absolutely NO bondage, NSFW, content of real life people and celebrities, Irl pictures and/or gifs, roleplay or otherwise will be endorsed in or tolerated on this blog. These are not new policies by any means, but I wanted to reinforce them with this new pinned post. Just a reminder in case you’ve forgotten! However, this does not mean we bash the NSFW community here. The NSFW community is my ally who I truly respect, even if I don’t share their interests and prefer if we do not interact! Any asks spreading hate or rude thoughts about the NSFW community will be deleted immediately.
Art and written content of children’s shows, or content that reflects the themes of children's shows. Because I am autistic, I have a lot of trouble fixating on media that’s expected of my age range. I’d much rather make content of things for a younger age demographic. Regardless, I take a lot of pride in creating content that’s as tasteful and canon as I possibly can. And even though I will continue to make content of shows targeted at children, this does not mean my blog is for children or that I will draw characters that are children. My blog upholds a family friendly atmosphere, but it is not at all here to welcome minors. It is simply here to feel nostalgic.
SOME ageless characters might be featured on this blog. With the point above being instilled, a lot of children’s shows have ageless characters in them that may go to school one day, but work a job another day. They are made to be relatable to children but still have the ideals and responsibilities of an adult. It makes them flexible and easier to engage with. Characters like this often reside on shows like Sesame Street. A good few examples of this trope are Grover, Bert, Ernie, Murray, and even the Cookie Monster himself! These kinds of characters I feel more comfortable representing in tickly situations because they have the headspaces of adults on most occasions. Characters like the Yellow Guy from DHMIS also have a similar alignment. I will continue to create artwork of characters like these!
If you’re confused about or have any more questions regarding the expectations for my blog, you can look at them here!
I feel much more comfortable now that this decision has been made, and I thank you all so greatly for understanding and respecting my wishes. You have made this community so much better just by being respectful and open to criticism. You know who you are. And if you feel like you’ve failed in these departments, don’t despair. You were made special, and you’re loved very much. There is always time to try again, just like I am now!
If you’re under the age of 18 and can no longer engage in my content, please do not feel bad! Once again, this is nothing personal against you. When you become an adult, please come back and see me! I’m sure that will be very soon. I’ll still be here! But until then, it’s time for me to go. See you all real soon!
