If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
Hunter would have married me instead of Amy. Everything would have been better. For Zack, too. Both of us could have been something other than trapped and miserable.

If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
Hunter would have married me instead of Amy. Everything would have been better. For Zack, too. Both of us could have been something other than trapped and miserable.
Do you think you'll ever be happy instead of miserable again?
No, not really. I haven't been happy in nearly forty years. But happiness is overrated. I look around and everyone in this town who's happy is either an idiot, or a weakling, or an innocent, or some combination of those things.
What book has been the most influential in your life?
The Pillow Book, by Sei Shōnagon. Her arch observations on court life and the manners (or lack thereof) of the members are timeless. We could all stand to make lists like hers.
I challenge anyone to pick one of the following topics and create a bullet point list about it:
Things That Make One’s Heart Beat Faster
Things That Arouse a Fond Memory of the Past
Infuriating things
Nothing Can Be Worse
Things That Have Lost Their Power
Things That Give a Clean Feeling
Features That I Particularly Like
from Jimmy: THEY’RE A 10 BUT grief got them bitter
That is remarkably insightful from a ten who has all the brain capacity of an ambulatory pile of autumn leaves.
Happy New Year! Do you have any new year's resolutions? What are some hopes you have for the coming year?
"I've made a resolution to see what other young men in town other than my husband are worth chewing on."
anything from your childhood you wish you'd held on to?
"I had a plastic toy snake. It was jointed in segments so if you held its tail, it looked like it was moving, the way a snake moves. I don't remember where I got it -- the maid's son might have forgotten it in the house. It had stickers on its segments to show scales, and I peeled them all off and stuck fake crystals on it. It was a good snake."
Fuck, Marry, Kill: Jimmy, Clint, Zack
Ah yes.
Fuck Clint. Marry Jimmy. Kill Zack. Obviously I've already done the other two with Zack so he only receives the third option.
If you could preserve the works of one artist, who would you choose?
Lee Dongwook. He made very small sculptures of the human body in various stages of disarray, mostly in unexpected and distressing fashions, that were nevertheless quite beautiful in their fragility.
I include some here. They can be unsettling.
