chinese mythology ⇥ nine tailed fox

Huli jing or jiuweihu are Chinese mythological creatures who can be either good or bad spirits. Nine-tailed foxes appear in Chinese folklore, literature, and mythology, in which, depending on the tale can be a good or a bad omen. During the Han dynasty, the development of ideas about interspecies transformation had taken place in Chinese culture. The idea that non-human creatures with advancing age could assume human form is presented in works such as the Lunheng by Wang Chong. As these traditions developed, the fox's capacity for transformation was shape.

Yeah I have a pretty elaborate headcanon for Acnologia’s past. 

I personally think he grew up in some rural area in Fiore that, for some time at least, was unaware of the war going on. Of course it did in the end spread even to this area and Acnologia and his parents were pulled into it.His father died in a dragon attack but he and his mother escaped. For a while they lived in some sort of “safe zone” for civilians that was guarded by dragons but the dragons wanted to recruit Acnologia to learn Dragon Slayer Magic to fight in the war. His mother was strictly against it, after her husband’s death she could not help but bear a grudge against them, but Acnologia agreed to it and was unshakable in his decision. Realizing that, his mother let him go but reminded him to pay the dragons back for all the suffering they’ve caused.He learned Dragon Slayer magic and then went to fight in the war. He found comrades who fought alongside him even when he turned against the dragons. But every of his comrades eventually fell in battle.

It’s more than that but I didn’t want to write a novel here P:

holy shiz i just realized that the underground would be littered with black flowers instead of the pretty golden ones… shit boy the place would look even more bleak and depressing
