Victoria came to Vievecor City in order to fulfill an arranged marriage so her family could come into a great deal of money. Her husband was not a very kind man, she fell into a deep depression, and so he commissioned the sanatorium to house her (and others like her). It was done under the guise of care, but truly, it was meant to be a punishment and cage. However, Victoria actually grew very fond of the place, and the people inside. It drove her husband mad, for lack of a better phrase, and he could not stand the idea that she was happier amongst the rabble than in his home with him. He called for an experimental procedure to be done on her to ‘fix’ her attitude and that is what finally took her life. She spent a long, long time completely unseen to everyone as she wanted anyone who knew her to pass on before living again as a spirit. During that time, she watched and studied the sanatorium workers and the psychiatrists. She delved into any psychological text she could get her hands on. She might have given her ex-husband a few sincere frights, even more nightmares, but nothing that would break the pact. Until eventually, she settled into the role of psychiatrist herself which is why she is so loath to give it up easily. By all accounts, this is her sanatorium.
There have been many animal spirits that Vix has cared for over the generations. Most recently, there is a clever little fox that follows her near every step. She’s pretty sure that it is still many years away from being able to learn a human form, but relishes the company that it brings. She calls it Xue.
Victoria is a particularly talented dream walker. Even when alive, she had dreams so vivid they would often be difficult to discern from waking memories. Once she passed into a spirit, she began appearing in dreams quite by accident. It was almost easier than maintaining a permanence in the physical realm. It was an incredible relief that finally something came naturally to her. She started to note how each mind, each dreamer, almost spoke a language all their own. There were nuances to each shape and thought and passing metaphor. Not every symbol resonated the same meaning to each personality. Tirelessly silent, she spent years on the sidelines observing each different accent of thought. Now, there is little that she cannot gleam from a dream at first glance from an unwitting mind. However, she wants to become a truly honed expert at the craft. Vix has even gone so far as to find certain witches to teach new perspectives to her.
There is a special soft spot in her heart for malevolent or nearly malevolent spirits. All those who linger without answers or closure. She is of the opinion that it is rarely their fault and cannot find fault in not wanting answers to questions that still hurt. Sometimes she wonders how or why she did not become one of them as there seems to be much still unanswered in her own history. Then again, she never started with a sound mind so how was she to lose it?
Victoria is a staunch bibliophile. Even for her era in history, she was far better educated than many of her peers. She never hesitated to seek out any library or book resource available. The vast majority of her time both during life and throughout afterlife has been spent with her nose in the pages. When not absorbed in a text on anthropology, psychology, biology, chemistry, or entomology, Vix rather enjoys a romantic story in her free time.
