@liljestrand_house is kind enough to let me bring my third year BEnvD students here every year. This year I brought three times as many, but they were just as gracious of hosts as ever. Extremely grateful for everything they do for not only the legacy of the house, family, and architect, but also what they do for the community. I’ve wanted to get this shot for a while. I’ve been using someone else’s photo whenever I do lectures on the Liljestrand House, and finally had the opportunity to get it. No cars in the driveway (except for the Porsche), the house looking quiet, modest, and mysterious. The driveway coming in on that 3/4 angle, the dense foliage hiding the views, the light coming through the house with peekaboo views of the ocean way beyond. The rustic mountain house will give way to the refined minimalist retreat. . Couldn’t teach a studio on architecture in Hawaii without bringing the students to the Liljestrand House.
