We’re at the end of Voltron Writer Appreciation Week and I’m going to do the same thing I did with Voltron Artist Appreciation. There’s just too many fanfic authors out there that I love and I’m just going to toss out this partial list of them in no particular order. I just want to take a moment and gush about how my dear friend @pretty-princess-eren writes such fantastic fics that I have the honor of beta reading, and what a joy she is to RP with. This woman’s head is a fountain of amazing AU ideas and her writing is so full and poetic in her fan fiction/fan novels.

It’s Saturday, which means I can take care of this earlier than usual: Day 6 of Voltron Artist Appreciation Week! Today I’m appreciating @v-0-3, who has become one of my favorite artists, period - no qualifiers of a certain fandom or ship. Her style gives the characters she draws this ethereal quality that I love and the fact that she’s always applying it to characters like Shiro with robotic/android features is just so different from what I normally see in SF and fantasy art. I think this was the first piece by her that I noticed - my eye was caught by the “hidden Sheith” tag - and it stuck in my memory so much that months later I had to go hunting for it and ask for help finding it so I could put together a “subtle Sheith” mini art collection for a Dreamwidth comm. Then I started following her for the great VLD and Sheith work. I’ve even had her fanart inspire me to include scenes in my own fanfic. I started supporting her on Patreon and then over a long holiday weekend I sat down and read her original manga/comic, “Paper Roses”. And now I am just as in love with her original characters like Hiro and Akio and Satoru and am as excited to see work she does with those characters as I am Voltron characters. Today is the last day I have prepared for praising a Voltron graphics/edit artist. As I said a few days ago, when I tried to write down a list of who I follow and usually see on my dash, it was kind of short. Please, please feel free to point me at more people (and it doesn’t have to be just Sheith; I like a number of ships and k/ance is just about my only NOTP) and I’ll put them together in a post later.

Anyway, Day 5 is for @goodtohaveyouback/ @cryopcds. I first noticed this edit and absolutely loved it, especially when she responded to the squee by adding variation stills of it. And then there was the first Garrison days edit that had so many of us thinking that the fabled Shiro and Keith backstory had been leaked. There are mini-stories (what happened after Keith found Shiro/Kuron, Kuron as a dangerous sleeper agent) and interesting AUs (the Galra prince one, the dragons one) among her work. I loved her work so much that I joined her Patreon and the lovely results have included a scene from my fanfic, a scene that I turned into a fanfic, and a scene from a rushed fanfic that’s going to get expanded so I can include this.

I think it’s fair to say that she has tricked almost every single one of us into thinking her work is a still or scene from the show at least one time. I know she caught my husband with this one when he was looking my way across the computer room. She captures the VLD art style very well and I will never get tired of seeing what she has to offer us next.

Day 2 of Voltron Graphic Artist Week is for @garrisonsheith. Whether it’s gifset edits, manips, or icons and banners and such, they look great and often capture moments that may not be canon (yet) but feel like it. I’m pretty sure the first time I saw this one, my eyes just slid past the second one as a scene I’d misplaced, because it looked like it belonged. Love their creations and looking forward to seeing more.

It’s Artist Appreciation Week for Voltron and the first artist I’m going to appreciate is @lightningstrikes-art.

It was a couple of months after I’d really gotten into the fandom online (after S2) that my ship tastes went from “Kallura is nice, Shallura is nice, Kidge is damn cute, and Sheith seems very Harry/Hermione-ish with all the mutual support...” to “I have a new OTP and it is Sheith”. And that’s when I came across pieces like this and this on my dash. Not long after that I bought her second Sheith zine, “Shooting Stars”, and have been a fan ever since. From the pre-Kerberos art to the Galra/BoM Keith AU to the Mafia AU, she just keeps producing all kinds of moods with her wonderful art. Plus there’s the side benefit of Batfam art (psst, how about more Terry McGinnis?).

Voltron Writer Appreciation Week Day 2: in which I sing the praises of @latart, who is one of the writers and possibly THE writer that cemented my status as a Sheithen for life. I’m pretty certain I’d read some other fics that paired Shiro and Keith and enjoyed them, but Strengths and Weaknesses caught my attention from the beginning. The opening trope of “Shiro has lost the memories of his relationship with Keith” wasn’t new, but she wrote a backstory for them that just sucked me in. It was plausible and she made the Garrison such a vibrant place, filled with great OCs and a ton of detail. Add to that a fabulous slow burn that turned into the kind of healthy, mutually supportive relationship that stems from the show itself, and I at least was hooked. It’s thanks to her that I wrote my first Sheith story, an alternate chapter for S&W that she was gracious enough to encourage. Her story has gone on to spawn a series, including Slow Burn #2 as Keith and Shiro find their way back to each other and a meanwhile-back-on-Earth story full of the delightful OCs that fill S&W. If you love Sheith and you haven’t read this story, I highly recommend that you carve out some time some weekend soon and fix that.
