Scott Moir: 35th birthday chart

There's a lot going on in this chart for this year until his next birthday

Sun square Mars: a lot of drive for accomplishing things, as well as a lot of competition. Which in his work, duh. But it's always validating when the chart is lining up with what we can see happening. There's tension between what he wants and what's expected of him. It can also be that his self-interest and the goals of others are in conflict. This is one of several aspects saying he'll be overscheduled. Finding a balance so it doesn't strain his relationships or possibly impact his health will be a challenge.

Usually without a birth time, you can't look at moon aspects, but no matter what the birth time, he has this T- square in this chart with Moon opposite Uranus, both squaring Saturn to some degree, and even if it's weaker, it's big enough to mention:

Moon opposite Uranus: sometimes this aspect means some sort of change in the home but without ease - could be a physical change like renovations or a move, or something less obvious like a transition in an established relationship. external change can be the result of restlessness you feel inside, needing space. could also be about disruptions from travel or changes in your situation.

Moon square Saturn: this one can potentially be heavy because it indicates some kind of emotional block or frustration-- could be feeling like you can't express your emotions openly or that you lack a good emotional support system. Or something making it harder to move forward. You'll be carrying a lot of responsibilities and maybe feeling isolated. But can't say to what degree this would be happening without a birth time

Saturn square Uranus: this has been a long transit so that most people had this in their birthday charts last year- this has an element of resisting change. Scott having it again this year means that IF he's not been learning necessary lessons, those areas will get more intense. Resisting instead of dealing with it makes it more of a struggle.

Saturn being the apex of the T-square and the trigger of a yod brings up a theme of boundaries and limits- feels like a tug of war with other people - when to compromise and when to say no. are you going to put up walls, or are you going to be open and honest. But again, how difficult this is depends on whether you work on it or shut down

Venus is making a yod with Neptune and Pluto and is opposite Saturn though a little bit wide - the themes here are, what do you really value? what's real in your life and what are things you're projecting or that turned out to be illusions? you might be faced with your control issues. Neptune and Pluto making inconjuncts to Venus can play out as relationships or finances being pulled in directions you didn't intend, or things not going according to your plan.

He has Venus square Saturn in his birth chart- this year he has Venus opposite Saturn in this chart, so the themes of the square, including low self worth and what part that plays in his relationships might come up. being pressed to balance and make compromises between what he needs and what others need comes up yet again

He has positive aspects between Mercury, Mars and Jupiter for being productive, having good feedback and recognition:

Mercury trine Mars: a productive time, with positive support for your ideas. A good time for brainstorming with others and turning your ideas into action

Mercury opposite Jupiter: feeling optimism but take care that you don't overestimate and make miscalculations. Another aspect that says be careful of overscheduling and that you'll feel stress and the weight of expectations from others. he needs to learn to say no and align his life with his principles rather than staying quiet when it doesn't. a time of learning and expanding knowledge.

Mars sextile Jupiter: opportunities and recognition. find balance and not stretch yourself thin because you're prone to excess with this aspect. a need to act on your beliefs and morals and not sit by

He turns 35 today and is entering a 12th house profection year- this closes out a 12 year cycle, so it's about dissolving your old identities where they don't serve you and getting ready to shift into something new. it can feel low energy because there's an element of isolation or solitude. ways that you work against yourself can be highlighted, there are opportunities to have realizations about things that hadn't been conscious for you til now. you tend to be more inward than usual because you're being asked to figure out what you want to carry forward vs what's not aligned with you and better left behind

the last time Scott had a 12th house year was sept 2010-sept 2011, Tessa's 2nd surgery, when they were out of the public eye for a bit and didn't compete until 4CC and Worlds. he had a chance to think about how he wanted to do things differently and follow through and it paid off in their relationship and in their skating

Scott Moir and Charlie White 9/2/87 and 10/24/87

Scott and Charlie are close in age- Scott's older by 52 days. So their slower placements are quite similar. Those represent something of the times and world you grow up in, so the two of them have a lot in common in their makeup and influences. They have North Node in Aries at the same degree, Chiron in Gemini at the same degree, and all the slower planets from Jupiter to Pluto in the same signs. So for instance, their Neptunes are both at 5 Capricorn, so Charlie relates to Scott's Neptune pretty much like he relates to his own. There are parts of their dynamic which feel very natural to them because they live with the same energy in themselves.

Without birth times, we don't have houses, which would make a big difference in how these placements express themselves in each of them. So we can only look at signs and aspects.

Scott has a lot of Virgo and Sagittarius in his chart. Charlie has a ton of Scorpio, with a Libra Mars. The Virgo energy in Scott makes a flowing sextile (60° angle) to Charlie's Scorpio - earth and water signs are harmonious. Scott is extremely mutable, so he's adaptable but can be ungrounded, while Charlie has a lot of fixed energy which is very steady, but can get stubbornly set in his ways. So they complement each other well- Scott needs steady, grounded people around him, and Charlie is enlivened by flexible, more spontaneous ones.

I'm going to focus on the composite rather than synastry because many of the synastry aspects are either in their own charts or are echoed in the composite.

Composite charts come into play only when people are in active relationship with each other, so it was most present when they were training together, but still would be in play now when they're in touch:

Sun square Neptune: idealism and sensitivity between you where you can read each other well. but also a possibility of not showing who you really are, or revealing what's really going on, so a level of distrust or disillusionment can develop. It particularly can play into weak spots in your egos.

Mercury conjunct Venus: affection for each other. a shared sense of what you consider beautiful, especially in art. a tendency to be kind in how you speak to each other and have sensitivity towards each other's feelings.

Mercury/Venus sextile Saturn: Saturn has a restraining effect on the other two planets, so the way you show affection might be kind of quiet, but this gives a steady longevity to the positive feelings and respect you have for each other

Mars square Uranus with Pluto at the midpoint: high energy between you. your individual objectives may be in conflict 👀 an unpredictable connection. isn't going to have a steady course. they have this aspect very close, and Pluto in the middle making semi-squares to both amps this up even more and adds an element of ego conflict and competition but also a way that they force each other to grow and change at a deep level. also that over time, the relationship itself goes through great change and can be reborn in another form

Jupiter trine Uranus: something unusual about this relationship- it needs to follow its own patterns and won't look like a typical friendship. a lot of forward looking creative energy between you where you inspire optimism in the future and spark new ideas in each other.

Tessa and Meryl

Meryl is a Capricorn with either Capricorn or Aquarius Moon. Tessa is a Taurus with Libra moon. Both have earth suns- practical, grounded, physical, and maybe both air moons who process their feelings through their mind. But Meryl's Sun and Moon (regardless of whether it's Cap or Aqua) are both ruled by Saturn, planet of structure, reality, and limits, while Tessa's Sun and Moon are both ruled by Venus, planet of pleasures, beauty, relationship-- so while they have certain fundamental qualities in common, the vibe is very different between the two of them.

Meryl has zero planets retrograde in her chart, which is rare, and Tessa has five planets retrograde, including Mercury retrograde, which is a lot. So Meryl is more decisive and less likely to second guess herself, while Tessa is inclined to reflect and turn over her thoughts and decisions quite a bit before making a move. So it could be that Tessa's hesitations and worrying would make Meryl impatient.

They do both have multiple planets out of bounds, which gives them an out of the box quality: Meryl has Moon, Mercury and Uranus, and Tessa has Mars and Uranus out of bounds. People with out of bounds planets tend to know fewer limits, might be unconventional, and can be extra high achievers.

Their synastry shows some areas of agreement but a number of ways they struggle to understand each other:

Meryl's Sun opposite and her Pluto trine Tessa's Mars, M's Mars sextile T's Sun: a lot of competitiveness but also respect. bringing out defensiveness in each other, but pushing each other to grow

Meryl's Sun conjunct T's Neptune/Saturn: Meryl not being able to see Tessa clearly. The potential for Tessa unwittingly to give the wrong impression from being shy, being nice rather than candid and Meryl being disappointed or feeling deceived. And then also a heaviness between them, a sense of needing to measure up, being pushed to take more responsibility or mature by each other.

Meryl's Mercury/Neptune conjunct Tessa's Uranus: spontaneity, curiosity and lively conversation, heightens creativity in each other

Interestingly, Meryl's Saturn triggers Tessa's yod nearly the same way Scott's Saturn does-- meaning that Meryl's Saturn, her work ethic, her discipline, triggers Tessa's sense of purpose and direction. But it also shows that different people can fit you in a similar way but affect you very differently based on who they are to you, by how you relate to each other, big picture.

Their composite relationship chart has some liveliness and warmth, but also not that many aspects (that can be seen without birth times anyway) - not many outer planet connections, which can give you deeper interaction long term.

Sun conjunct Mercury: a lot of mental activity, lively verbal communication, similarities in thinking (this being different than the synastry can show how they might have more in common than they think). Sun/Mercury sextile Mars: high energy and the ability to work cooperatively (might have contributed to being able to train side by side)

Sun conjunct North Node: involvement with male figures who have importance (this usually means male figures with authority or power, but in this case could also mean their skating partners)

Saturn conjunct Uranus: tensions from unexpressed feelings that can lead to conflict

But also this very positive aspect- Venus trine Jupiter: warmth, adds positive inclination and energy towards each other, and optimism.

Out of bounds planets: pt 3 the Moon

Planets are out of bounds when they travel further north or south than the Sun ever goes. The planet will have an outside the mainstream way in how it expresses itself (A planet's sign/degree placement, like 12° of Aries, is its longitude, while out of bounds refers to its latitude).

The Moon goes out of bounds more often than any "planet" besides Mars, and goes further north and south than any other. The Sun goes to 23°27" N and S, but the Moon can travel up to nearly 29°. Those few extra degrees make a big difference. (how to look it up in your chart)

Having your moon out of bounds in your chart can express like this:

Being separate from the mainstream- when you're emotional, not feeling a sense of resonance with the group or people as a whole. This can feel like isolation or disconnect, or just a feeling that you're different.

Not being tied to society's expectations where your feeling nature is concerned. You may be spontaneous, free, passionate and unapologetic about it - or, since you have fewer limits, you could be insensitive, selfish, or even lawless depending on the rest of your chart. It's not a rebellious energy where you're pushing against limits, it's like not recognizing or realizing limits or rules in the first place.

Amplified intuition, intense emotions. More transparent emotional boundaries, Moods of tremendous loneliness and vulnerability and mood swings.

There can be an out of the box, original quality to your nature. Breaking out, standing out in an unusual way.

These out of bounds qualities are in addition to whatever your Moon sign is and how it's placed and aspected in your chart.

Scott's moon is waaay far out of bounds- depending on the time of day he was born, one of the farthest out I can find, after looking through several hundred. It's over 28°. So these traits are even more extreme.

And in his chart, no matter what time he was born, his moon is trine Jupiter, so his feeling nature is already very expansive and heightened. His moon is also opposite Chiron, which makes him very sensitive in general and sensitive to rejection and criticism in particular. That's on top of a difficult Venus square Saturn in his chart which can feel like it's hard to feel loved or to have self-esteem. Add the out of bounds feeling of not fitting into groups, and he might seek belonging while never entirely feeling it.

How someone expresses their out of bounds planets can vary a lot and is like any other challenge or gift in that you have a choice in how you work with the energy. Being outside the mainstream can give you perspective and the ability to have fresh eyes and something different to offer. And having strong emotions and intuition gives you depth and richness in your experiences if you're willing to stay open to them.

Scott Moir 34th Birthday Chart 9/2/21

Scott turns 34 today, and the sun in the sky returns to where it was when he was born. The chart for that return tells us some things about his year ahead until his next birthday. (as always there's a lot we can't see without a birth time)

There's no fire in this chart. A lack of fire in a solar return can mean difficulty defining goals, but his work goals are kind of built in by the nature of the sport. So this instead could mean his focus is more on establishing himself and building networks, needing to put his energy into the here and now. Can be a depleting year, energy-wise.

The chart is in a see-saw pattern, meaning there are two opposing groups of planets in the chart. This would be a year when you need to find balance, that you might feel like there's some conflict or like you're being pulled in two different directions. You're being asked to see things from other people's point of view and compare with your own ideas and find what's true for you.

The moon in this chart, no matter what time he was born, is in the last quarter phase, and again says he'll be hearing a lot of conflicting views that will require him to reevaluate his own and reorient himself. How he expresses himself outwardly might be in conflict with how he's feeling as this starts to happen. A sense that things he was holding onto as very important don't matter to him as much as he thought. But he would need to make a conscious decision to break away from old values and attitudes that don't support who and what he wants to be.

There are 5 retrograde planets in this chart- everything from Jupiter to Pluto. Because these are the outer planets which retrograde for big parts of every year, this isn't as big as Mercury, Venus or Mars retrograde, but there are a couple of interesting points here.

Jupiter is about expansion, and when it's retrograde, it asks if you're internally prepared for how your life has expanded. You can only expand so far before you need to pause and take a look at what you're doing and why. Jupiter is loosely trine Venus in this chart, so this could be about values, money, or relationships. Positive benefits coming from people you've built relationships with in the past. You'll tend to be generous with your time and resources, so a need to set limits.

And Saturn retrograde asks where do your obligations and boundaries give you stability, and where are they limiting your growth? Saturn is inconjunct the Sun in this chart, meaning he might feel ways that the life he's making needs adjustment because it doesn't quite fit who he is or wants to be. This usually would be about work or how he fits in the world, but could also be personal depending on what houses this impacts in his chart. Mercury trines Saturn in air signs, so mental energy focused on defining his ideas. Doing that through working with others who give positive support and taking responsibility for how he communicates can give him clarity and direction.

Sun square Nodes: a need to release old patterns and habits in order to move forward in a positive way. There can also be escapist patterns or indulgent behavior. And he's entering an 11th house year in annual profections. We can't tell too much without birth time, but the 11th house is about friends and groups, teams, networks and alliances. Tessa Virtue 32nd Birthday Solar Return 5/17/21

Tessa turns 32 today, and the Sun returning to where it was when she was born marks her birthday astrologically. Drawing the chart for the Solar Return gives you information about the themes of the year until her next birthday.

Without the birth time, we can't see the some crucial parts of the Solar Return chart, but here's what we can see:

Tessa moves into a 9th House Profection Year: this indicates some themes around higher learning (she's scheduled to complete her EMBA program at Queens at the end of 2021), travel (could be literal, or can also be about expanding horizons or your understanding), religion or spirituality.

Her Solar Return for this year has very little fire: a need to work with present options and immediate issues. not having as much time to focus on long range plans. for some, this can mean a low energy year. a good time to get your feet on the ground and build a solid foundation. a time for gaining experience and knowledge. finding a sense of stability before you choose new directions for the future.

The Moon in this chart is in the Crescent moon phase: recognizing the need to move forward but needing to address hesitation or fear about risking your sense of security. Issues from your past come to awareness and show you how old habits and responses are limiting your growth.

Aspects might be weighted more or less, depending on how they fall in the chart. So take these with a grain of salt- they do show up, but how much importance they have and in what areas is hard to see:

Tessa has Sun quindecile Pluto in her birth chart, so she has always focused on and been interested in growth - having a trine, an easier aspect, in this year's chart is a good sign that working on these kinds of issues will flow, or be supported.

SR Sun square SR Jupiter: positive energy and attitude. tendency to overextend yourself but also to take risks which you may have held back from before

SR Venus conjunct SR North Node: Venus has more emphasis than usual this year. Transits and events involving Venus may have more impact. Tessa had an eclipse conjunct her Venus back in November and the upcoming eclipse on May 26 is opposite her Venus. Transiting Venus will go retrograde in Capricorn at the end of the year.

SR Venus trine SR Saturn: a stabilizing influence on your emotional and financial life. this aspect may somewhat ease or balance two hard aspects to Mars and Uranus from Saturn:

SR Mars inconjunct SR Saturn: can indicate a period of adjustment between action and responsibility or limitations. trying to figure out how to adapt to limits while still accomplishing what you want.

SR Saturn square SR Uranus: tension between an urge for freedom and obligations or responsibilities. delays caused by circumstances beyond your control. possible frustration or a feeling of oppressive heaviness. relationships which are healthy and strong will pass the test, but relationships with problems will be stressed and need to change.

It took a while so maybe too much time's passed, but here it is - to those who asked if they're going to work together, skate together, be friends, or something else - it's all up to them and their free will at the end of the day. But there was a good bit going on in the transits that day:

For both Tessa and Scott, there's something related to the bigger picture of this year - they had eclipses hitting their individual charts  November 2020 and then again May 2021, and the effects last 6 months after each eclipse, so they go all the way to November of this year - for Tessa it involves her Gemini Mercury and Venus, for Scott his Virgo Sun and Mars. And transits on Friday, August 13, the day they were at the rink together, touch those same exact planets.

Tessa had themes of communication, social media, finances, relationships, what makes you happy? highlighted by the eclipse cycles. On August 13, the North Node of the moon was at 7° Gemini, conjunct her Venus and Mercury. North Node transits can bring increase in those areas, so this transit brings reevaluation of how you relate and of your relationships in a way that's positive to your growth. Figuring out what you truly value, making changes in how you present or communicate about yourself, an increase in mental energy and communication, positive meetings, useful information incoming. (The transit for her lasts Aug. 5-Sept. 9-ish which lines up with the weekend at the cottage when she started posting a lot).

For Scott, the eclipses squared his Sun and Mars, highlighting questions around identity and what he wants in life but also bringing up issues he may have been ignoring and highlighting relationship tensions. His Sun and Mars were squared by the eclipses, so it's a more challenging energy- like is this who you are? is this what you want to pursue? Feeling pressure with his goals being tested. Higher energy levels and strong will/ego and possibly irritability (and he also had another pair of eclipses on his Mercury/Uranus revving his mind and making him prone to overthinking and anxiety).

On August 13, transiting Mars was conjunct his Sun and Mars. This is high physical energy, wanting what you want and caring less than usual what people think, confidence, more assertive than usual. A surge in expressive and creative energy.

So, other transits - Juno is about partnership, long term relationships. Tessa and Scott have opposing Junos - hers in Leo, his in Aquarius. On August 13, transiting Jupiter was conjunct his Juno and opposite hers. Jupiter is expansion, generosity, optimism, so that energy infused into the energy of their long association.

Ok... so Tessa has a yod in her chart which was very connected to their skating career because of how Scott fits into it. They also make a second yod together that involves her Mercury, Venus, Uranus and his Neptune and Pluto. And on August 13, the transiting North Node was conjunct her Mercury and Venus, and both the South Node and transiting Juno were at the trigger point of this yod.

The whole yod is part of the bond and the "indescribable" quality of their connection they have alluded to at times. Transits to the trigger point activate the whole thing. Tessa's Mercury and Venus conjunct North Node and opposite Juno/South Node can be realizations about issues related to their partnership or how they communicate. It could be release of old mindsets or patterns.

Transits are influences, and whether people follow them is up to them. But that was some of the astro weather that day :)

Tessa Virtue transits: Mars return square Chiron

Tessa is having a very active month astrologically. Besides her birthday, she's having some significant transits.

Right around May 12, Tessa had her Mars return - Mars circles the entire zodiac every 2 years, so she's starting a new 2 year cycle regarding her drive and motivation. The chart of the Mars return can tell you some things about where your energy might be focused for the next 2 years. Right around this date, transiting Mars was squaring Chiron in the sky, and this was additionally triggered by the Moon crossing Chiron:

So her Mars return coincided with a rare square from transiting Chiron, which relates to wounding and healing. Squares are an aspect of tension and friction and impel you to do something about them. With this in the Mars return chart, the next couple of years will ask you to reexamine past wounding and learn to use anger in a healthy way, to use it to be more self-assertive without apology, to help you heal. This can also be about figuring out what truly motivates you and clearing ways you feel blocked, so that your path forward becomes clearer.

In her birth chart, Mars is opposite Saturn and Neptune, so these transits added to her chart to make a temporary T-square:

Mars opposite Saturn and Neptune in her chart probably were or are two of her more challenging aspects. These are being activated by Mars and Chiron. how you deal with difficult aspects in your chart isn't static- you learn and evolve and can turn difficulties into strengths over time.

Mars opposite Saturn: This one says when you're young, your ego and self image are fragile and that you might have a core woundedness around feeling unworthy, so you are absolutely compelled to strive and fight to seek proof or your worth through mastery or winning. Mars is fighting and action, Saturn is discipline, structure and also the way you seek an external answer for your inner needs for security. with this opposition, you try to protect yourself from uncertainties by establishing yourself and building things in your life to make a shell around your vulnerability. It's hard to tolerate weakness in yourself, so you try very hard to embody strength. But this emphasis on "winning" can get worth and strength confused with approval and acceptance and outward "success." Solving this requires an understanding that you are worthy exactly the way you are and that you don't have to prove anything to have worth.

In interviews, she said that during the comeback the process became more important than results for their skating, and that no matter what the outcome, they already won because they did everything to their utmost in the journey. And that seems to reflect a wisdom that turned the difficulties of this aspect into great strength. It's possible that after retiring, commercial deals and business has been an arena where these issues of success and maybe worth have come up again. this Mars cycle seems to relate to these themes and about how to craft a path forward. Solving this requires flexibility and releasing any patterns or defenses that are rooted in any past fragility that isn't your truth any more.

Mars opposite Neptune: Neptune is escapism, avoidance, hidden things as well as sensitivity and spirituality. Mars is courage, brashness, going after what you want. When they're opposed in your chart, it can be frustrating because the aspect demands action, but it's unclear how. When you're younger with this, there can be a lack of boundaries and knowing how to behave which can make other people uncomfortable-- this could relate to being awkward and not fitting in. Giving too much in hopes of being liked, others taking advantage or just taking without giving back. So this one can be hurtful to have. You have big dreams with this, but because of the diffusing effect of Neptune and the self doubt and anxiety that can come with it, it can be hard to make them a reality. So someone who has this and has achieved things has worked unbelievably hard and overcome a lot within themselves to make that happen. Solving this requires connecting your energy through your intuition, and tapping into that artistic, ethereal side can make you inspiring.

So Tessa did this in skating, and this Mars cycle may be about finding how and where to channel her energy in this way now.
