A 74th-minute penalty kick goal decided the contest, as the Wofford Terriers defeated the VMI Keydets, 1-0, in Southern Conference women’s soccer action on a rainy, cool Friday in Spartanburg, S.C. Great decision to keep Duggar Baucom around at VMI:

"In eight seasons as the head coach at VMI, Duggar Baucom’s won a school-record 118 games and led the Keydets to three Big South tournament title appearances in the last seven seasons. One reason for the improved play is the uptempo style Baucom’s teams play, with the Keydets annually ranking among the highest scoring teams in the country.

On Wednesday the school announced that Baucom’s contract has been extended through the 2017-18 season, a deserved reward when considering the lack of success at the school prior to Baucom’s arrival."

Overlooked amongst the aircraft carriers, camouflage unis and overseas air base battles was a humble matchup between two ancient mid-majors with little marquee value. The Army, Navy and Air Force academies play for the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy every year, to a moderate amount of fanfare. For Virginia Military Institute and The Citadel, this year’s All-Military Classic contained one of the most meaningful games — outside of league tournament appearances — that they’ll play all year.

Also noteworthy that they're playing Virginia Military Institute, who last went to the tourney in 1977. Also, the Keydets won this game and went to the Elite Eight.
