Matriculation Weekend
Aug. 17, 2020—Rats matriculated to VMI this weekend. At the end of each day, rats said goodbye to their families and entered barracks with their companies for the first time.—VMI Photos by H. Lockwood McLaughlin.
Matriculation Begins

Class of 2024 Graduates
May 16, 2024—Nearly 350 cadets graduated today in Cameron Hall. Virginia Townsend ’24 gave the valedictorian address, and class president Cole Cathcart ’24 introduced the guest speaker, Ryan McCarthy, the 24th Secretary of the U.S. Army. Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins ’85, superintendent, noted that the Class of 2024 matriculated and endured the entire Rat Line at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.—VMI Photos by H. Lockwood McLaughlin.
Joint Commissioning
May 15, 2024—Cadets commissioned into the U.S. Armed Forces in a joint ceremony held in Cameron Hall this morning. Cadets joined the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The commissioning officer was Gen. James Slife, vice chief of staff U.S. Air Force. Afterward, cadets received their ranks and first salutes.—VMI Photos by H. Rat Olympics
Nov. 10, 2023—Rat Olympics for the Class of 2024 plus 3 kicked off Founders Day activities Friday morning in the Corps Physical Training Facility. The competition is the culmination of the 10-week physical education program, Rat Challenge. Ring Figure
Nov. 21, 2022—Members of the Class of 2024 received their rings in a ceremony Friday Nov. 18 with Col. Kevin Trujillo ’98 addressing the 2nd Class in Cameron Hall. Later that evening, the cadets put on their rings for the first time while passing through a ring-shaped archway during the Ring Figure ball in Cocke Hall.—VMI Photos by H.
