In case you haven't heard, we will be hosting a  live switched multi-camera production of the VO Peeps April 27 Meetup with Chuck Duran and Stacey Aswad!  Our Pre show starts at 5:30 pm PST.  We would love for you to  join us in our Google Hangout for this exciting event, which will be also be switched into our live production - as well as recorded!  COOL.  Invites will be distributed on a first come first serve basis in order of availability.  In the event that we have more requests than the allotted amount of  connections available in the Hangout, we ask those participating to please be considerate of others who may be waiting to join and to direct all questions and concerns to the Hangout Moderator.  You may also join our Ustream chat with our special guest Moderator Ted Mcaleer.  Please be aware that this is a live switched broadcast, and at any given time you may be broadcast through our Ustream channel. I wanted to update you all on our April 27 Meetup with Chuck and Stacey and ask you for your help!  In case you have not seen the news,  Joseph Micalizzi, Director of Photography with http://TheMotionPictureCo.com , will be streaming a live switched multi-camera production of the VO Peeps April Meetup with Chuck and Stacey!  OMG. FUN.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED! CALL FOR PARTICIPATION:

At any given time during our shows, we will be taking a short breaks in order to showcase our Peeps (that's YOU!)  Our intent is to show the global integration of the group and how beneficial it can be for your career!  As of this email we have Peeps participating from Spain, Turkey, England, Ireland, South Africa, Florida, NYC, LA and Boston!  If you are interested in participating, please just give me a quick heads up by emailing me ASAP at [email protected] and let me know in what capacity. This way I will hopefully be able to allocate time for every submission. Please note that ALL entries will be uploaded to our webserver at vopeeps.com.You can be involved in a number of ways:

VO Peeps March 2013 Meetup with Special Guest Beverly Bremers!

Hi Peeps!

Well, it's certainly been an amazing start to our year!!!!  And guess what? We're not stopping now!!!  Make sure to mark those calendars for March 23, 2013 at 6:30 pm and get ready for some awesome networking, truly fabulous food, and a whole lot of FUN!  Get ready - our featured guest speaker is none other than (taking a big breath here) voice over actor,  songwriter, recording artist, director, actor, and teacher Beverly Bremers !   Woo Hoo!   A big thank you to Beverly for so generously spending time with us and enlightening and educating  the Peeps!

As usual, please make sure to register early as seats will fill up quickly! Members can expect an invitation in their email shortly!  For those of you joining us at the Meetup site, a little VO Paisano Peep told me that there will be a special Cucina Italiano menu!  Take it from me, You are in for a TREAT!  And wear your BIG pants!  :)

About Beverly Bremers:

Beverly’s voice has been heard in the various media for over 30 years for such products as Shell. Nissan, Jazzercise, Sony, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Hollywood Park, US Navy, Food 4 Less, Thrifty, Ralphs, and El Pollo Loco. Her voice-acting career covers commercials, infomercials, industrials, promos, cartoons, CDs, websites, voice mail, books, awards shows, and games. She has played everything from moms to corporate executives, mad fighter pilots to evil queens, and kids to friendly fungus. Beverly’s singing career includes the Broadway stage (“Hair”, “The Me Nobody Knows”, “The Rocky Horror Show”, “Menopause The Musical”), nightclubs, variety television (American Bandstand”, “Tonight Show”, “Merv Griffin Show”, “Mike Douglas Show”), jingles, and a couple of hit records, most notably, “Don’t Say You Don’t Remember”. She is also an accomplished songwriter, having written 4 produced musicals and the platinum, “Mousercise” for Disney. She recently released a new CD and is currently recording a new one.

In short, Beverly uses her voice constantly and has been teaching these skills for the past 20+ years in Orange County, San Diego, and Los Angeles. Basking in the Afterglow of VOICE 2012

Hey Peeps!  WOW.  I just got back from an amazing VOICE 2012 experience, and have to say that I am still on an incredible high!  So many happy and memorable moments to cherish - seeing wonderful friends again and meeting new ones - and I am just now starting to catch up on some much needed sleep! Truth be told, some of the most meaningful moments of my VOICE 2012 journey started long before the conference actually began in June.  Track back to our Feb 18 meetup with our guests James Alburger and Penny Abshire.  Special people indeed - and two of the most gracious and kind people I have ever met.  Their generosity in donating the first VIP tickets to VOICE 2012 enabled us to jumpstart our VO Peeps Career Education Scholarship Fund, and helped us to truly help others in the VO industry, and make dreams come true!  More generous donations followed - Thank you to Deb Munro from Deb's Voice and Nancy Wolfson from Braintracks Audio,  as well contributions from a number of anonymous donors - once again reaffirming my belief that our VO community is one of the most caring and generous communities -  second to none!  All in all, we were able to award a total of three (YES THREE) scholarships to VOICE 2012 - and BOY does that ever feel GOOD!  We are so very grateful to everyone in the community for helping us to make this happen! Scholarship winner Tina Wilson recaps her experience at VOICE 2012, "As a winner of the VO Peeps scholarship, I cannot tell you or even put in to words how wonderful this week has been. It was wonderful to be able to network with so many great people and to receive a wealth of information and new ideas from the seminars at the same time." I was afraid I'd have to spend the week alone. This was quickly remedied by the voice over community. I met a ton of talented people and made some real friends during my stay. I ended up being invited to so many other events and activities, I hardly had the time to sleep!" "I can't express well enough how much of an impact this event had on me. I am so thankful that I had the chance to attend!" Griffin Burns talks about his experience, "If I was asked to summarize VOICE 2012 in one word I would say “motivational”.  It’s not every day that one is surrounded by hundreds of folks that share your passion.  And it’s not every day that one has access to such a wealth of information from the industry’s leading talents/ teachers.   Highlights for me include realizing that I didn't know nearly as much about social media marketing as I thought I did, testing out some very nice Sennheiser microphones, and of course, meeting other aspiring and professional voice talents.  You can count me in for next year! Lessons from Sandra Swingler...

I had the good fortune of meeting Andrew Swingler at one of my VO Peeps meetups last year.  I was immediately drawn to his quick wit, tech savvy, and lovely British accent.  In November of last year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and soon found out that Andrew's wife Sandra had been diagnosed with brain cancer at just around the same time.  I immediately felt a kinship and a connection with her - there was so much that we could talk about.  The first time I met Sandra, she greeted me with a smile and a hug which immediately warmed my heart.  Although she had some trouble speaking due to a tumor near her throat at the time,  we started talking and didn't stop for a breath for the next hour.  I will cherish our first visit forever - We talked as though we had known each other all our lives.  We traded war stories about our diagnosis and our course of treatment - we talked about our fears about this disease and our hopeful outlooks for the future.  We spoke about tumors and chemo and radiation, and we spoke about our families and how they were coping.  I met her two gorgeous daughters and saw a beautiful combination of both Andrew and Sandra in their faces and personalities - those girls simply lit up the room. Although this was the first time she had ever met me, Sandra was so incredibly warm and loving, right from the start.  It was hard not to fall in love with her - Andrew - I GET IT!   She also had a wonderful sense of humor, and I think both our faces hurt from smiling so much that first visit!  For the next few months, our husbands, who had started independent facebook "Health Update" groups on our behalf, posted information and updates on our progress throughout our treatments, and I followed Sandra's progress daily.  It became a life line for me - my connection to Sandra  - whether she was in the hospital or at home.  We were able to post messages of hope to one another, and Sandra was always so wonderfully supportive and positive for me, always giving of herself and happily championing me and my successes. Sandra's path was much different from mine, and I will admit that I struggled my own questions of "why" and the seeming unfairness of it all.   Throughout her journey, she remained an amazing pillar of strength, giving of herself in the most unselfish of ways, and just plain inspiring me with her beautiful soul.  When I last visited her, she was not awake, but I have no doubt that she heard and felt me.  Truly, she was an angel who walked this earth.  She fulfilled a most purposeful life, filled with love and honor, and I will be forever grateful that I was indeed BLESSED to know her and spend time with her.  She was a precious gift to all of us, and her spirit continues to inspire me and make me smile.  She has helped me to become a better person, and I hope to be able to continue to help others as she has inspired me to do. Thank you Sandra, for everything - and for blessing me with so many gifts. I love you, and miss you dearly.
