✖ Nights were still cold even near the end of Winter, the wind not as fierce but still capable of chilling an unprepared traveler to the bone. Kaeyonari had lived the entirety of his life in a warm climate, snow familiar but the sustained cold that went with it was a thing to be reckoned with. As a Crow his armor had mostly been tuned to circumstance of contract, not environment, && suddenly having to worry about staying warm was taxing. Mostly he managed, && when it was required of him to do his part for the Inquisition he either tried to stay on the move or avoid the cold as much as possible. This time the elf hadn’t been as lucky, trekking through wilderness past sundown, && finally he’d been forced to settle for awhile to make a fire.
The forest is mostly silent, the lonely cries of wolves distant enough not to bother with. Kaey’s fire was small but effective, sheltered beneath a rocky outcropping to block the wind. With his bow laid across his lap he peered into the flames, both aware of his surroundings && bored with being alert. Though his sleep was erratic && something he didn’t deem necessary all the time he was susceptible to the exhaustion that went with missions, especially those in which he relied solely upon himself to get things done. If he could he would rest awhile, but dawn was approaching && when it did come he’d have to move on post haste; he’d been delayed enough already.
Ears twitching the rogue is suddenly aware of a sound beyond his small circle of light, somewhere within the trees across from him. The wolves had stopped howling, but he’s certain what is approaching is not an animal, unless it was injured; the sounds were enough to inform him of what would come into a view. Hand tightening around his bow he watches the treeline patiently, tense but confident in his instincts. Deciding not to call out he waits, his body suddenly warm with energy stirred by his alerted senses.
@vociivus.
“ If you’ll be wanting passage to Jader, it’s gonna be a hundred royals at least. I can’t negotiate that for you. ” It’s not often that the Armeria takes on passengers at all -- not while he’d been a part of the crew. But if it meant extra gold, and they had a few extra beds... well, where could the harm lay in offering help at a pre-determined cost?
