Stand Up and Have Your Voice Heard! And I Don't Just Mean Voting
It's election day in the United States today. A day that only comes once every 4 years, so hopefully the people of the United States make the best of it and get out and exercise their fundamental, democratic right to do so.
But this got my thinking about how the mantra of the election has come to be the very cliche, "Make Your Voice Heard". I started to think about why this is only applied in voting scenarios? It should be something we live by on a daily basis. How often do we go about our day expecting that someone else will "just know" how we feel, and we just assume that everyone has mind-reading powers. Let me make something perfectly clear. NO ONE CAN READ YOUR MIND! In order to be understood, we must first make our intentions, needs, and desires known. Speaking our minds, and voting are directly correlated. People tell us that if we don't vote, we have no right to bitch and complain about how things turn out. The same goes for everything else in your life. If you don't tell someone that you are feeling angry or neglected, or lonely, or whatever the case may be, you can't bitch at them for not spending more time with you. And let's be honest, if keep all those feelings in, you are likely to become very bitter, and then nobody is going to want to spend time with you anyway.
So take some of life's wisdom from the election and remember that if you are angry, say you are angry! Say you are angry, pissed off, frustrated, annoyed, flustered, irritated, outraged, offended, or exasperated! There are so many words to describe just one single feeling, surely you can find one suitable to your state of mind! So vocalize! Vocalize your choice and vote today, and vocalize to express tomorrow. Let your voice be heard!
