In Voicelugger (1999), the bad guys live in some math textbook

Do you know anything about Voicelugger? I just heard about it, but I’m curious about what it’s like!

I know that it was Shotaro Ishinomori’s final completed project and was released after he passed away.  It aired from January to March of 1999. The name came from the fact that the entire cast was made up of famous Japanese Voice Actors and Singers hence VoiceLugger

The cast consisted of:

Akiko Nakagawa who did voice work in Inuyasha, Tokyo Mew Mew, Macross 7 and Engine Sentai Go-Onger as Voicelugger Ruby

Haruna Ikezawa who did voice work in Wedding Peach, Clamp School Detectives, Virus Buster Serge and Haunted Junction as Voicelugger Rose

Takeshi Kusao who did work in Saint Seiya, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, Dragonball Z and Slam Dunk as Voicelugger Sapphire

Tomokazu Seki who worked on Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Wedding Peach and Fushigi Yugi as Voicelugger Emerald

Ichirou Mizuki who is the legendary singer of the themes to Mazinger Z, Kamen Rider X, Kamen Rider Stronger, Akumaizer 3and Space Pirate Captain Harlock as Voicelugger Gold.

The villains of the series are the Muon Empire from the planet Tsedua who seeks to control the powerful Voistones to conquer the universe by controlling the Demon Beast Hades.  These stones are in the possession of four children, who are rescued and brought to Earth by Voicelugger Gold.  Years later, the grown children join their protector and mentor to use their Voistones to battle the evil ambitions of Muon Emperor Genbah!

Though the series was written as a parody of older tokusatsu shows, Ishinomori wanted it to come across as more serious and worked to make it more of a tribute and celebration than a parody.  It had a very short run and only lasted 12 episodes. I have sadly not seen this series yet thought it is on my list if I can find a good copy or it ever gets fansubbed!
