Thursday, March 12: Void of Sleep, "Master Abuser"

“Master Abuser” was a mean pounder that didn’t relent much over the course of 6 and half minutes and seamlessly blended prog-like dynamics into what was a full-bodied sludge metal beatdown.  In particular, Burdo’s multi-faceted vocals and the instrumental passages taking up the back half of the song gave it a distinct vibe and illustrated Void of Sleep’s prowess in full.  That instrumental section probably could’ve been shorter and the doomy outro was mostly unnecessary, but the first half was prime Void of Sleep and made for a pretty awesome soundtrack to a brawl.
