What made you like the Carnival chapter compared to other chapters? What drew you into the Carnival trio, and what were your first impressions of them?
Niceee, my first ask! Anyways— firstly, hi anon! Quite the Interesting question! (lol) Srry for answering this so late^^
• Well, compared to the other chapters which are themed around the fictional political world and violent happenings in PTN, I guess it would be due to the aesthetics, the idea and concept the Carnival is meant to be, and so-so. I mean, I didnt really care for the aesthetics of the Carnival at first because what really made me interested in the first place were the characters (those 2 specific protector NPCS). But eventually i took an interest in the Carnival—the place as a whole.
I like how considering that it is a black ring (BR-001), it isn't really (?) like the other black rings. Instead of constant gloom and despair almost, its a cheery place hiding its true form through the use of illusory influence (Hamel's doing, simply put). I like how it's also perceived as an illusory escape for corruptors as well.
I feel like the writer team at AISNO were inspired by Alice in Wonderland or some more fantasy-related media, but its just a thought, lol.
Overall, its just really interesting to me. If they expanded on it, it could give of those vibes where it feels like nothing is wrong but you're somehow getting a feeling of dread and everything seems off-putting.
•Well, the first character that drew me in (in general, because i didn't immediately take interest in the entire Carnival trio yet) was obviously...Misery Puppet. Regarding on how I took a liking to him is funny.
Some few days back in 2022 I was reading through the cutscenes. I read through the Carnival cutscenes, and then I decided to check on cutscene stage 7-8. I noticed and found him interesting. I told myself "ooh, he looks interesting! I'll come back to him later!"
Then, I was in a call with my friend. Told him about Misery Puppet and such. The rest is a long tale.
°Note: From this point on, I'll try to at least keep things brief as I explain what drew me into each character.... ^^'
For Misery Puppet, I found myself liking him because of his character design. Basically how he looks. Something about his low eye-lidded eyes, the shades of purple, black and white fit him really nicely. Also his personality I'd say.
He seems almost passive-aggressive (lmao), in the cutscene where we meet him he doesn't really attack (?), hes just... Standing ground kinda over Phantom Hamel. He has some melancholic, pessimistic tendencies which are cool to me, whilst surprisingly being also authoriative bc Hamel was being harmed (obviously).
Then, I like the "rousing emotions" aspect of his (mentioned in RE 7-11, hecate and him). We get to at least see how he hurts his victims (best words i can describe it). He seems to lean more onto the mental, psychological aspect when it comes to his victims.
His voice I do like too. Although I'm not such a big fan of his ENG voice (sorryyy TT), his CN and KR voice rocks tho!! It sounds so WOWW🔥🔥
For Void Puppet this time, I liked his character design and his voice. Emphasis on the voice part. Andd his personality.
On CN, KR, and JP dub, he sounds okay. What really sells his character (for me back then and imo) is how he is voiced in the ENG dub.
To me, it has that perfect balance. Not too deep, not too monotone, not too plain to listen to either. His voice almost sounds... Soft, velvety—gentle. He sounds like a distinguished elegant gentleman you'd find at ballrooms and masquerades with an abudant banquet for the rich. I've been really wanting to know who voiced him for a long time now. Kudos to the voice acting director who directed him... He sounds so good.. so lovely.
For his character design, I really like the elegance of his attire and all (minus those legs, because what are thosee😭😭)
His personality is just so .... Wow bc what?? He embodies a personality that of someone who has been yearning for a long time. He looks like a hopeless romantic obliviously in denial. I love how he adores Hamel so much, and how he almost vaguely yet clearly remembers what Hamel has done for The Carnival. He really was impacted by what Hamel did for them.. awh. This is one of the reasons why I ship him and Hamel, it has so much potential!
Andd for Hamel, I guess its because of like I've mentioned, her role in the Carnival storyline. Her personality and voice suits her well. I love most about the aspect where she cares for the corruptors that have been there for her. She even refers to them as her "audience" !!!! 😭😭🫶 Though I interpret that in both a good and bad way.
The three are just reallyy unique to me. I love them<3
•My first impressions on them? For Misery, i found him interesting (like I've mentioned), and for Void and Hamel I dont really know.
This was quite the ramble. Thank you anon for your kind question ! I'll continue to show the Carnival and the Carnival trio to others with my showered love and dedication I have for them !! ^^🫶
