Video Surveillance Vol. 53: Easy
No one ever said being rich and famous was the answer to all your problems. The animated visual for Porter Robinson and Mat Zo's stunning collaboration 'Easy' conveys this message clearly. A young star dreams of trading in her lavish lifestyle for one that is more easy-going. What we should take home after watching: sometimes, it's the simple things in life that bring the most joy!
Video Surveillance Vol. 53: American Dream
Gridlock shows us what happens when the ' American Dream' becomes more of a nightmare. The video portrays a lost, transient man who has been forgotten by society. He is shown wandering the streets in search of compassion and generosity, only to be scorned by those who pass him by. He holds a sign that reads "I fought for the U.S. yesterday, homeless today. Please Help!" But no one hears his cry. As all hope dwindles, he is pushed to the bitter edge. Gridlock adds:
In 2009, on a typical sunny day in downtown Los Angeles, Gridlok was at his home studio fiercely working on his next album. Meanwhile a few floors above, a young woman was standing on the edge of his roof staring through the Los Angeles skyline contemplating about how her American Dream died long ago. While deeply focused on his task at hand, Gridlok was suddenly distracted by a loud scream, and then a bang, and then silence... "American Dream" is inspired by this true event and pays homage to those who have lost their dreams. May we never lose ours.
