TECH: Japan Uses Social Media to Reconnect Families
Despite having a massive earthquake wipe out a significant portion of Japan's infrastructure, Japan's internet is largely intact. And not only is it intact, but it's proving to be a more effective method of finding family and friends. As organizations, such as the Red Cross, are overwhelmed with the sheer magnitude of the devastation and the phones lines are iffy, people have been posting updates to their whereabouts via Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc. In less than hour after the quake, Twitter saw tweets coming from Tokyo at 1,200 per minute.

ART/MUSIC: Artist Brings Facebook to Life, Literally
Cedric Vella created one of coolest videos we've seen all week called 'YouTube My Facebook'. They sing, they dance, they brush their teeth, they... well, you'll just have to see for yourself.

GREAT WORKS WORLD: We've Donated Our Site to Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief
We've transformed the GreatWorks.com landing page into the Donate Dot, encouraging our visitors to donate to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief. The Donate Dot works by connecting clicks to the Red Cross donation app in iTunes. To put the dot on your website, cut and paste the javascript snippet found at the link below into your source code.

MEME: 13-Year-Old Rebecca Black's "Friday" is a Headache Worth Having, Apparently
If you haven't heard "Friday" yet- we dare you. While the song (and video) is one big hot mess, it has somehow inspired memes and re-makes, including the above cover by Bob Dylan. It's hard to say it failed completely since it has gained the attention of legendary musicians. Maybe it's a fail/win? It failed so badly it's winning?

FASHION: Nicole Miller Joins the YouTube Parade
Fashion designer Nicole Miller has embraced social media about as much as one can by using a branded Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube channels and now, Nicole Miller TV. Living exclusively online, the web series will chronicle Miller's daily doings and work, much like any other reality series.
