Land of Ice and Pyramids
"Thou art all ice. Thy Kindness freezes." – Shakespeare, Richard III The yetis were expecting you. Of course they were expecting you! Their culture had foretold of your coming for generations. But this particular flurry of yeti were expecting you at this time and in this place. In the valley between three pyramids (whose crested peaks were just hidden behind puffs of clouds), the wind was silent and two elders sat, waiting. The white hair belied a warmness amongst the cold of the land, an almost mammalian warmth that was reassuring on the blue, wizened faces. One of the elders pointed solemnly at a distant cliff-face, the bare front of a broad plateau. This would be the next adventure. You would rescue the lost statue from deep within the glacier's belly, and set the world right for these fierce, loyal creatures. As you step out from the pyramid's perimeter, you feel the whistling wind pick up from miles away, caring the dry cold along icy riverbeds and moving past you, not even noticing you, on to prominences unknown. This world is ready to be explored. This world was waiting for you.
