Way Up 🌄 | @ashnomadik #volcanotrekking! 🌋 | Guatemala Read about her experience below! 13,000 feet, 4000 meters I hiked uphill. A 40-pound pack on my back. It took 7 hours to reach the top of the Acatenango volcano. Through 3 different ecosystems. From sweating hot to freezing cold. Hiking, like life, is 25% capability, but the rest requires sheer determination. There were times I wanted to quit, I wanted to cry, when I wanted to turn around. Every part of my body experienced pain. I found that determination wasn't thinking of the glory once you reach the top, it's a quiet resolve to just put one foot in front of the other. There were people who moved quickly and there were people who turned around. But in order to do it, you have to set your own pace. When I thought I couldn't take another step, I had a group around me to give just enough encouragement to take another step. Who you take with you, your team, is as important as the food and water on your back. Perhaps even more. Just before sunrise, I reached the top. I got to look down at the clouds and see the sun come up over an active volcano. As beautiful as this was, what I learned on the journey was the real triumph.
