A Surprise Visit From The Dr. . . It was a real surprise to see on social media last Thursday that ex-pro triathlete @sportiedoc Tamsin Lewis was going to compete at (the age-group only) Ironman Mallorca in Alcudia. Out of the game for 4 years, she was back on a 70.3 start line, but this time for fun?!? . It was also a last minute decision for myself to be there to, as I was limited to a 15mm fisheye Lena and a 50mm Sigma Art lens , after some rain damage put my other equipment out of action. As the pressure was off, with no pro’s and no sponsor/brand requirements, it was time to see if I could shoot a race just with too fixed focal length lenses. . . I caught up with Tamsin on the first climb, she was on borrowed Pinarello Dogma roadie, and absolutely flying, leading the females for the whole of the bike split. She admitted to having little or no training at all, but muscle memory must have kicked in, proving that she’d still got what it takes to have a fast race .. though it was on the run,in 30 degree heat, where the race took its toll - as it did for many athletes. .
