This is a highly recommended book, chock full of hundreds of great photos of 45 different cafes around Belgium. Well designed and printed, it has an excellent look and feel for the subject matter. Many quirky details of the interiors and warm portraits. It's printed in both english and dutch, so each page is really half a page of content, but there is plenty.
The writing covers history, cafe customs, and profiles of the cafe owners and patrons. Hopefully a second edition will explore even more of these treasures, living museums to the past and present that are sadly dwindling in number as the owners age with no one to pass down their cafes.
A very affordable book, it's a nice hardcover for under $20.
