Volks FCS minis (pure rambling)

So, for the first time since I returned to the hobby, I dared to look at Volks' FCS catalogue for mini-sized dolls.  The result was predictable, if you know my history with Volks and minis.

F-33. is. gorgeous!  She’s like an older Kanon.  Growing up sat well with her.  *admires*  

F-45 looks very promising, too.  I’m imagining sunlight skin... boy... tousled hair... @__@  With a white-skinned F-47 best-friend character!?  

EDIT: F-54 is a looker, too (scroll down). 

Those are my initial picks.  Basically everything from F-20-something on was new to me.  Lots of them are cuties but I couldn’t find enough owner pics to get a better idea of what the sculpts look like.  

You know, I don’t actually want to amass an army (well, ok, maybe ‘army’ is overstating it... a baseball team?) of dolls.  I don’t like how the hobby sometimes feels like it centres on an endless string of new doll purchases. :-(  

But Volks is too good at creating sculpts that tug at my heartstrings.  ;_; <3

Here's my Volks Carol, Allie, in a chaotic desk scene. She just got back from France, with a wonderful new faceup by _nano_dino !

Slightly out of focus, high drama.

Already besotted with her new security advisor and possible Rogue SecUnit, Mr. Gyr. Pardon the complete lack of lighting, focus, or composition (look at her wonderful mole!).

Her necklace is by orangebabydolly; wig by Switch; eyes by Kanis Augen. She is rocking an awesome grandpa sweater by Volks; Gyr is all in Wa Modern. At some point, I'll show you a pic of Gyr's new shoes. Gyr is the fashionable one in this duo XD

The third boy in this line-up (the redhead) is the one who turned me on to the F-54 sculpt.  I don’t know why, but he just captured my heart on first sight... :D

In other news, Volks no longer calls their standard skin tone “Pureskin normal”, but “Pureskin fair” [source].  It’s a nice change of wording since what’s “normal” for one person may certainly not be “normal” for another.  (Also, Sunlight is now Tan, Shadow is Bronze, and Ebony is Amber.)

SDM F-20 vs Switch Shiho

Umm, so, this Y!JA auction has made me realise that Volks SDM F-20 looks a fair bit like Switch Shiho)?  Shiho is actually one of my favourite SD-sized sculpts, it strikes me as a sweeter, younger version of the Volks Lucai (Lucas, Chris, F-16, etc.).

It looks like MSD/ SDM F-09, F-13 (fairy version of F-09), F-19, F-22 (fairy), F-29 (fairy) and F-49 are getting discontinued.

F-09 is iconic of an era for me... it was really popular back when I was most active in the hobby (2004 to 2007-ish).  It’s a truly versatile head that can look handsome, cheeky, or even feminine.

FCS head-sculpt images, SDM F-45版

Let’s try to be actually useful this time, and search for photos of one of the newer/ less common head-sculpts, shall we. XD

Starting with a brief glimpse of an F-45 girl on the Volks blog (she might be the same one that appears on the wonderful Neo Angel Den in a bonnet, actually).

Then we have an owner with a boy - click “次ページ >> “ at the bottom of each page to see the next one.  (All her SDM’s make appearances, but only the boy is an F-45.)

This owner has a lively F-45 girl ^^.  Her F-31 appears often as well.  Click  “ 続きを読む” at the bottom of each post to see the full post and pics.

The source with the most pics is definitely the well-populated Twitter tag, but be careful because it often appear with other head-sculpts and one might get confused with all the cuties. XD  

F-45 often appears as a girl, and a lovely one at that, but I think the sculpt could make a very fetching boy, as well!  ^-^  He’s going on my “under consideration” list~
