any interpretation of modern volo that has him still supremely interested in ancient ruins is one that fundamentally misunderstands him, imho; he’s not into ruins for the love of the game, he’s into them because he thinks they’ll bring him to the solution that will Fix Everything. so he’ll fixate whatever he thinks the equivalent of that is. like a Multi-level marketing scam

once again thinking about how alfred and volo have eerily similar opening salvos and feeling a delicious chill run down my spine . it is my firm belief that volo would say anything alfred says. and vice versa

thinking about him again....i know it's because of gameplay reasons that volo is often a quest- slash direction-giver to the player; however i do love how well they convey him as a guy who is only marginally interested in how you're feeling and who keeps trying to steer you toward doing the things he wants/needs you to do for his own personal reasons
