For the prompt list may I request Shiro/Ren "things you said that I wasn't meant to hear" =D
Ren kept video logs. It was a fact known in passing to both Aileen and Pidge, mentioned roughly once by Hunk, and something that sounded vaguely familiar to Shiro. He was almost sure he could remember the mechanic having a habit of talking her way though learning new circuits and repairs back at the Garrison; that Matt would get annoyed at study groups because it was a shared habit and her techno babble would interrupt his scientific process.
Either way the Paladin was certain that this stray file shouldn’t be on his terminal on the Navigation Bay. Shiro frowned, considering the unfamiliar file on the holographic screen. He had asked for Ren’s input on a minor technical issue. If she was busy with whatever project Pidge and Hunk had roped her into this could be her way of letting him know she hadn’t forgotten? The space equivalent of a YouTube help video?
His finger tapped the screen, selecting the unnamed file.
Ren sighed, leaning back against her chair, and dropping her head back making it entirely impossible to see her face. “Lee says I need to talk about it, and as much as I don’t want to admit it I do need to talk about it.”
Shiro jolted. It most certainly was not the space equivalent of a YouTube help video. His hand rose to stop the video but Ren moved, and something about the expression on her face made him pause.
“I’m afraid. I’m honestly afraid of what it means to face this and I don’t-” Ren cut herself off, breathing slowly as she tried to organize her thoughts. Her gaze slid to the side, focusing on some point off screen. “I know Lee is right, I can’t ignore this into not bothering me, but I don’t think she understands. Shiro doesn’t remember me. It’s not his fault, I know that, but it stings and more than that I don’t know how to act around him. I have all these memories and-and feelings and now they’re just one-sided? Do I just start the relationship- friendship over? Do I tell him about the nerf gun incident?”
Ren paused in her rambling, glancing back at the screen as if she were suddenly aware of a viewer. “No, I probably shouldn’t tell him about that. I don’t think Iverson ever really forgave us.” She sighed again, drumming her fingers on the tabletop. “I don’t know. Everything’s still pretty jumbled and I’m probably overthinking...everything. I’ll sleep on it, try to get organized.”
