The Second Guardian - Premise
Note from me: As Voltron LD continues, it adds more insight to the races and history of the Galra Empire. I also find that some of my original thoughts aren’t as fully fleshed out or as practical as I’d like them to be, so I might make changes once in awhile. So, you’ll get a few of these posts from me to update/ explain Parlex’s background.
The Second Guardian...
... Is the name they call the 2nd group of five lions to be created. It did have another name, but over the years as the story of the original became a Legend, much like the gods or goddesses of Bronze age myths of a race that can travel the stars, the real name was lost and the title or honorific The Second Guardian became the new, true, name. It doesn’t rival the first, the original. It never will. There wasn’t enough material found to create a group quite the same, nor did they have Honerva and Alfor working with them. It was a group of Alteans, and a handful of others from various races, that had most of the plans from the original, but none of the genius. Most of the Paladins of the Second Guardian were or are NOT aware of the difference in strength. Yet, the builders of the Second Guardian, knew they were short of the mark. That they couldn’t build something that rivaled the first, that would save them,a and fix King Alfor’s mistake.
For that’s how they view it... a mistake to have split and hid the lions. A mistake, to not use the technology or perhaps the resources the rift provided to stop Zarkon. But these were also Alteans, that had worked on the lions as engineers and technicians. They were not, and never would have been the kind of genius King Alfor was or Honerva.
