Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 8

Here we are at the end of another volume with our list of superfluous questions. This time I was like: ...Wait, do I have any? 😅 There is one in particular which probably will get it's own dedicated post, but yeah, this time there's not many.

A question about veils and how they actually work: Satoru completely demolished that house, what could have the veil prevented honestly? Like, even if they did raise it, probably the sound of the explosion would have been masked, but afterwards the house would still appear destroyed right? It would still make the news I imagine. Doubts doubts spinning around with no answers to be found...

Tengen asking specifically that our fave boys take care of the Star Plasma Vessel is so sus to me... <<

Is Fushiguro Megumi's mother surname or Tsumiki's???

Who indeed told Megumi that it was his father who decided his name?

We made it to the end of the 7th volume!!!

How was Tsumiki cursed the second time?

What happened to Tsumiki's mother?

The timeline of Toji and Megumi is a bit unclear to me, we'll see after the prequel arc if we can pinpoint everything more clearly.

Why/How Kenjiaku possesed Noritoshi Kamo?

Why did Choso wore a beanie/had a bandaged head

Loved to finally get a bit of Megumi's backstory and a good solo moment where he really shined. Loved seeing Yuji and Nobara being unstoppable together. Loved the fights. 9/10 (not a 10 because there was not enough Choso 💔).

Also recap of the fingers we saw until now:

1 at Yuji's school, ingested by Yuji

1 (out of 6) that belonged to the techincal institute, given by Gojo to Yuji, ingested.

1 that belonged to the Merry Gang and given as a test run to the curse in the Juvenile Detention Center, ingested by Sukuna while in control of Yuji's body.

5 that were in possesion of the school before the Merry Gang stole them

1 that was in possesion of the bridge curse.

A grand total of 9 fingers out of 20, 3 eaten by Yuji, 1 pending, 5 in possesion of the Merry Gang.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 6

Whew, this was a though one. 😮‍💨

This volume had a weird pacing and the whole Black Flashes thing that was introduced to us (and to Yuji off-screen while fighting with Todo I guess???) and immediately mastered by Yuji really curbed my enthusiasm. So it took me a lot to get through it because I wasn't hyped about the story beats.

Also no Sukuna in this volume. I wonder what he thought of Yuji's Black Flashes, of Todo's strenght and technique, and of Hanami. Lowkey needing a retelling of JJK but from the POV of Sukuna like Twilight/Midnight Sun did. Pls. 🙏

Canon explanation for how the heck Yuji could use Black Flashes so proficently right the F away. And no, I want Akutami himself to write it black on white on the next fanbook that he surely 100%nodoubtatallforsuretrust will release covering the other half of the manga, no more R***** posts. I want to hear it directly from the author. 😤

How did Gojo dissipated the curtain?

Why didn't Gojo sense Mahito's presence?

Is Yuji's assasination still a prority after this attack?

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 5

So, we are at the end of Volume 5! One sixth of the way (plus 0...) already! 💖

This Goodwill Event is really giving me the same kind of vibes of the Chunin Exams arc, like, A LOT. It must be all these new characters getting introduced and then pitted against someone who is a perfect foil to them and thus getting their backstories exposed to us... And the forest setting. And some of the participants conspiring to take on a specific kid. And- *gets dragged away I'm sorry. ù_u'' Anyway, it's going a lot faster than that arc and it seems it's already over because there are some very rowdy party-crashers. (I know there is still the baseball match but like... That seems such a tonal whiplash honestly after Mahito and co. bust into the school... We'll see, we'll see...) At least this time Gojo Satoru is in the area so... I'm much more relaxed (but not that much... <<''').

Still uncertain about the details regarding the Heavenly Restriction. Mainly because some translations make it sound like Maki decided to perform it on herself and others don't, but the former would clash with what Mechamaru said, that he seemingly didn't choose to have all that power and a frail body... Also it's stated that it's a binding that is applied/performed at birth so, newborn Maki couldn't do it...? Very confused, hope to have more details soon.

Still wondering exactly what Megumi knows about his father. (Like, it's specified that all the people belonging to the three clans know eachother, so do the twins and Noritoshi know who Megumi's father is? It bugs me so much that it's so unclear >< How is nobody asking who the father of this prodigy is???)

The whole "memories of events that never happened" thing.

The whole "how is it that Todo had to explain the correct way to envision the cursed energy flow when Yuji was tutored by THEE Gojo Satoru owner of the Six Eyes???" thing.

Was Ino a student at Jujutsu High?

Still haven't been able to understand what exactly that Todo/Yuji exchange in chapter 35 reminded me of. 😓

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 3

The story is starting to warm up, Nanami's introducton stole the show and ended up confirming what I had gathered from watching the fandom from the outside (that I love him so effing much). Mahito's nature and raison d'être are also very intriguing, and knowing that Geto is not actually Geto but a guy with ulterior motives unknown to the Merry Gang of Special Grade Curses makes it all even more compelling.

I realise we've seen them at the beginning of the volume but I really miss Megumi and Nobara...

Not many lingering questions this time around, the ones that I have will probably find an answer soon, so I can't wait to jump straight in the next volume!!

Was Nanami protecting his soul as an unconscious response to finding out that Mahito could target it or it's a protection he always has on?

And to which degree does Nanami actualy trusts Gojo's actions and is willing to endorse them? <- it seems like a trivial question, but what I mean is: given the fact that they potentially see eye to eye on certain important matters (i.e. how things are run in the Jujutsu world) and that he said he trusts him (and it shows with the whole playing along with the Yuji thing), and given their polar opposite natures plus the fact that Nanami explicitly said he doesn't respect him, how far is he going to stick to Gojo's side before they butt heads on what's the right course of action? I know that probably the story won't get to that point because what happens in Shibuya is pretty early on in the overall story, but you know, I like to wonder...

How do the pacts between the sorcerers and the "magic system" work? There's the universal ones that work for everybody and that look like a one-size-fits-all (like explaining the details of your technique to the enemy) and the specfic ones you can make on your own (the overtime one Nanami has), and specifically about the latter, can you take them back or once made they are definitive?

How is it possible that no one ever picked up on or even just thought about the existence of potential spirits born from the collective fear of natural disasters? (I still think it's not plausible at all but we'll see...)

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 2

We're wrapping up Vol. 2!! Wooo 🎉🎉🎉

At this rate I don't think I can make it to January with the Culling Game arc in the bag... I want to enjoy this, no rushing. 😤

Lots of interesting things and details, and also the explanation pages in between chapters... I love Gege unserious style of communication, I can see why his editor thinks he's similar to Gojo in some ways...

Finally being able to witness first hand stuff I've seen mentioned in broad strokes over the years is so weird and fun... Connecting the dots on these big events that I've seen discussed everywhere... And still being able to make theories and not knowing what will happen next! 😊
