Hey! I'm doing a post about how to curl those typical stubborn and straight Asian/Oriental/Chinese eyelashes! I understand your pain, when you curl your eyelashes, and when you apply mascara, it just collapses and goes back straight... Even more pointy-down! I did a vlog about it on YouTube, but I thought I'd post one on here as well!
First off, you obviously curl your eyelashes! I use Cosmopolitan's eyelash curlers.. With my tip, any cheap eyelash curler is absolutely fine (unless they look sharp, as I've read some have managed to chop off their eyelashes!) What I do is heat up the eyelash curler with a hair dryer, approx 5-10 seconds. BE EXTRA CAREFUL WITH THIS BIT! Then wait a little bit for it to cool down.. Test how warm it is by checking on your palm. If it's fine, check it on your cheeks/face. Then curl!
Don't curl how you normally do, by pressing down firmly for ages... Start from the tip of your lashes and pnch inwards towards the base. Then hold when you're at the base - this will create a nice natural curl, rather than a obviously curled bend!
Once it's nicely curled, the secret is to use a waxy waterproof mascara! I use Maybelline's Define-a-lash, waterproof, and I have been using it for years! Prices range from £5-£10.
I then use Maybelline XXLcurl + volume for my bottom lashes.
To apply mascara correctly to avoid clumps, get the brush by the roots of your lashes and in a zig-zag motion, pulling to your tips. Apply in thin coats and build, to avoid clumpy lashes!
Viola! Gorgeous long, volumised and curled lashes!
But waterproof mascara can be so stubborn to remove with normal makeup wipes... Fear not! The simple way is by using Vaseline! Just do your normal makeup removing routine, including on your lashes, then just simply smear and coat vaseline onto the residue of the mascara, and wipe away! It's so easy, you don't have to rub hard to rip out the lashes! I also tend to coat my lashes in a thin layer of vaseline before I sleep to condition them... It's not scientifically proven, but it's helped my lashes stay live after all this heating, curling and waterproof-mascaring! So here are my results....
So those are my hints and tips for those struggling to get lush lashes as they carry the evil genes of Asian eyelashes! I hope this will help those struggling! Please be aware I am only giving out suggestions to what works for me! Anyway, for those reading, I would love for you to get back to me whether or not this helped!
Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas, and to have lush lashed from now on!
