John Wood & Paul Harrison at von Bartha
On 7 November an exhibition by British artists John Wood and Paul Harrison opened at von Bartha in Basel, Switzerland.
John Wood & Paul Harrison shows the various mediums the artistic duo have engaged with throughout their practice, displaying video, photography, drawing and sculpture, exhibited throughout a labyrinth network of rooms of their own design. Wood and Harrison’s inspirations range from films to architecture, literature, art and design. Viewers are invited to find visual and conceptual connections between the artworks and their encompassing ideas and references.
John Wood & Paul Harrison runs until 23 January.
Enrico David at The Hepworth Wakefield
This week recent works and a new series of specially commissioned sculptures by Enrico David will open at The Hepworth Wakefield.
This is David’s first solo show at a UK institution since his exhibition at the ICA in 2007 and his Turner Prize nomination in 2009. Using the body as a point of departure, David explores form, both figurative and abstract, primarily through painting, sculpture, textiles, installation and drawing.
Enrico David runs from 13 November to 24 January at The Hepworth Wakefield.
Tomas Watson: At The Water’s Edge at Jill George Gallery
The works of British-born artist Tomas Watson will go on display at the Jill George Gallery next week.
Undoubtedly influenced by his year’s course in Anatomy for Artists, Watson’s work deals with bodies, particularly the male form. His painted figures are often fragmented sculptural forms, floating torsos or hunched muscular backs. The works at Jill George Gallery continue much in this vein, depicting figures in various laborious poses. The artist won the BP Portrait Prize in 1998, he now lives and works in Greece.
Tomas Watson: At the Water’s Edge runs from 16 to 21 November at the Jill George Gallery. The private view is on Monday 16 November 12pm - 3pm.
