Can I afford all the amazing games coming out before the end of the year?
Vonderhaar colored and edited. Fixed the shoulders, inked the pencil work in SAI. Basically used as a test to learn inking in SAI and get used to my new Cintiq!
My life is now complete. #vonderhaar #3arch #Trearch #BlackOps3

Apparently today is a day of Twitter silence, in protest of the social networking site’s apparent lack of response to people being able to go round abusing people willy-nilly. This is, of course, a perfectly reasonable way to protest something and definitely won’t fall on deaf ears as 99.9% of Twitter doesn’t actually take part in it. This is going to change the world! It’s also definitely working, seeing as “#TwitterSilence” is currently trending on Twitter.
This whole thing started when a woman got some guy arrested after he gave her “abuse and rape threats” over Twitter. This was apparently worth the police’s time and it actually resulted in an arrest. The man was allegedly sending “50 messages an hour for twelve hours”. This begs the very basic question; why was he still able to send her messages after twelve hours?
Nobody’s going to claim that Twitter is a magical candyland filled with gumdrop smiles and people who all get along together no matter what. Twitter actually has quite a large population of what have become known as “trolls”. These trolls are people who basically just abuse people for the sake of abusing them, with no real basis in reason or fact. They’re one of the unfortunate downsides of being a celebrity on Twitter, you can’t reason with them or offer any valid argument, they’ll just call you a faggot. But hey, haterz gonna hate.
However, trolls can actually be dealt with. This is a very secret method of getting rid of them that not many people know about, so I’m going to have to ensure that all two or three of you who actually read this must swear on the lives of your families never to tell anyone. Are you ready? The super-secret, rare method to stop abuse on Twitter is… the block button.
OH WAIT EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT EXISTS.
If somebody has been sending you 50 messages every hour with nothing but pointless abuse and threats of rape then you don’t leave them alone and hope that they’ll stop. You could, but you’d be stupid to assume that they’ll pack it in just because you haven’t replied, because that doesn’t stop 99% of people who abuse others on Twitter from giving people shit. The simplest thing you can do is just block them and then they can’t give you any more abuse. How simple is that?
More to the point, let’s be realistic here, if somebody on Twitter tells you they’re going to rape you, do you legitimately feel threatened by that claim? If I, Joe Butterfield in Manchester, received a murder threat from Johnny Bigbollocks in Texas, would I actually then fear for my life? The answer is no, because that’d be fucking stupid. If the man is somebody who knows you, knows where you live and has some way of easily getting to you without just breaking into your house then fair enough, you’ve a valid reason to feel scared. However, as that wasn’t the case with this woman who received the threats, then this whole thing is just a massive farce.
Let’s take a look at Call of Duty developer David Vonderhaar. He recently changed the stats of a gun in the game and this sent thousands upon thousands of pubescent teenage boys into fits of unadulterated rage. They then proceeded to shower his Twitter account with a shit-storm of hate, the best of which has been documented by this Tumblr. It’s actually quite hilarious how badly some of these people have taken the changed stats of an imaginary gun, but that’s the internet for you.
Here are just a few examples of the tweets:
You're a fucking cunt. Why the fuck would you patch the snipers you stupid fucking bald piece of fucking shit. Go die.
I wanna kill you in your sleep for what you did
I'm gonna rape your wife and kid so fucking hard.
ONE DAY I'll find you and slit your throat for making such a piece of shit game, you better lock your doors at night.
Do you see David Vonderhaar phoning the police? Do you see thirteen year old boys across the land being taken into custody because they told somebody that they’re going to rape his wife and kid? No. Quite rightly. This guy knows that they’re all harmless, angst-ridden teenagers who have approximately zero chance of ever finding him and stabbing him. They’re just words. Harmless internet words. The sooner these entitled people realise that, the sooner we can get over it and move on.
I'm not saying it's right, I'm not saying that it's okay for people to go round telling others that they're going to rape them or their family members, but it's certainly not an arrestable offence. If you don't like something, you don't have to read it. You fucking dickheads.
Stupid treyarch erases my fucken 1D emblem those bastards!!!!
"In dreams I meet you in warm conversation...We both wake in lonely beds, different cities. And time is taking its sweet time erasing you. And you've got your demons, and, darling, they all look like me."
