#Repost @jovan.mathieu ・・・ On November 6th, Louisiana voters have the opportunity to undo a Jim-Crow era jury law. Louisiana is one of only two states -- the other is Oregon -- in which a person can be convicted of a felony and sent to prison without a unanimous vote of the jury. As a result, Louisiana prosecutors do not truly have the burden of proving their case "beyond a reasonable doubt." They only need to persuade 10 of 12 jurors to send a defendant to prison, even for life. This injustice has continued for over 100 years, with catastrophic consequences that have contributed to Louisiana leading the nation's WORST imprisonment rate, as the 2nd worst in the nation (second to Oklahoma). It's time for Louisiana to take action and put an end to this Jim Crow era practice. Vote Yes to end non-unanimous guilty verdicts in Louisiana. #votesyeson2 #beapartofthechange (at Nails Blessed By Beedy) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpC8TpMBdVB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5bkwnp8zyani
