I’m closing Votive. Between the lack of interest and other things that have just made me feel like absolute shit, I’ve decided that there’s no room for Votive here anymore. I don’t really understand, but... Well, yeah. I hope everyone has fun roleplaying.

alright guys, as much as i hate doing these kinds of posts, we need to address these sorts of issues quickly so we can stamp them out before they become a real problem. please like this post once you’ve read it entirely to signify that you agree to everything mentioned; and please note that if you like this and then do what we’ve stated not to do in this post, you will receive a warning, so please make sure you read and understand it. i’m very sorry if this sounds severe, and please remember that we never wish to attack or seem mean, but i feel like we’ve been very lenient so far and we need to take all of our members’ concerns seriously. onto business:

(1.) WARNING SYSTEM. we are implementing a new WARNING system — you will receive a warning for any rule you break. three warnings and you will be removed; in severe cases only two warnings will be issued. we know this is strict, but we are growing weary with people blatantly breaking the rules thinking we won’t do anything about it. reread the rules and follow them.

(2.) BUBBLE-ROLEPLAYING. we’ve had a lot of complaints regarding this both from anons and directly on discord literally since the second week of opening. this isn’t just about one person but a few, and we won’t name names or approach anyone (at this stage), but if you think this might be about you, chances are, it is. i hate that this is happening because we pride ourselves on being warm and welcoming, and we don’t want to approach people — it makes YOU guys feel bad, it makes US feel bad. so please, reevaluate your roleplaying if you are doing any of the following:

plotting/writing with only one or a few select players

ignoring characters of a specific gender or race

replying only to the threads you ‘like’ and leaving others waiting for days (we understand sometimes you might get too sleepy or you suddenly have to go offline before you finish all your replies, but try to do your replies in the order you received them. if all your other replies are done, you can focus on whatever you like.)

creating new muses only for specific people’s requests/connections

doing open starters and only replying to some replies (if you feel you are a ‘picky’ roleplayer or can’t handle a lot of threads, then please do not post opens.)

(3.) PLOTTING/STARTER EFFORT. please guys, it’s better to tell someone straight up that you’re not feeling a plot (or the pairing of characters in question), because there’s nothing more disheartening than to get half-hearted replies to plot ideas or worse, never getting a reply to the plot starter. following up on that, make sure you are offering to do the starter 50% of the time (unless you already have a lot of starters/replies still to do), don’t always make the other person do it.

(4.) TRIGGERING TOPICS. this one is a short one, but please be mindful of bringing up triggering topics in the discord such as abuse, accidents/hospitalisation, body negativity (i know a lot of us talk about fitness/gym, which is fine since it’s only been positive thusfar), etc. even if it’s self-deprecating humour or whatnot, remember that not everybody is in the same place as you, and if unsure, please ask if it’s ok to talk about a certain topic first. 

(5.) BANNED FACECLAIMS. guys, we keep getting this lately, and it’s very inconvenient and unfair to everyone involved. you cannot come to us and tell us you want a faceclaim banned AFTER someone applies for them, it is YOUR responsibility to tell us preemptively (and provide sources for proven claims against a fc). we will not ban a fc simply because someone ‘dislikes’ them, or for non-severe mistakes which have been apologised for. i will be adding this as a note to the checklist.

if you’re reblogging musing / nsfw / aesthetic / etc posts from each other, please queue them for the next day so the dash isn’t flooded with the same post.

best to tag nsfw with votivensfw so it doesn’t get flagged and so members can blacklist and not accidentally see tiddies on the dash.

we’ve had a few people send messages about the microscopic text on the dash, so just a reminder that small text is fine, but please be mindful of your fellow members eyesight and try not to make us bring out a magnifying glass to read it. i don’t want to be that bitch but if i see any super small text after thursday ( friday gmt+10 ) then i’ll issue warnings.

please don’t talk about triggering things in the group chat, a few members have reached out to us about this. it’s great you feel comfortable, but just a reminder to be considerate to your fellow members. we want this to be a safe place for all of you.

going forward, on meme day, the main will reblog two or three memes that will be the main ones for the day -- we’ve had some feedback that with everyone reblogging 50 things, the dash becomes a bit of a clusterfuck. you’re more than welcome to send us the ones you think would work the best during the week and we’ll post them up . and of course, honesty hour ( day ) is the added extra bonus ( ie. 3 memes + honesty day ). so please now track the tag votivememe for ease of access.

so some of you may have noticed a bit of drama that happened on the dash (if not sent to your IMs) earlier today, and the fact we removed a member from this rp. we do not tolerate discrimination against anyone under any circumstances, nor do we tolerate the harassment of our members by another. we shouldn’t have to say this — nor have we had this happen before — but again: we will not tolerate discrimination of any kind, whether by sexual orientation, race or gender, and members are not permitted to block others for any of these things. 

a reason for which you are allowed to block someone is if they’re making you feel uncomfortable/pressured/etc OOC (please let us know if this is the case), including if you have known them previously OOC and do not wish to interact with them (if they have been problematic, again; please let us know).

hello everyone, we’ve noticed a few things lately that aren’t extremely severe but we do want to address them to prevent bad habits or situations escalating, and to avoid having to approach people specifically because that never feels good! so please take a moment to read through this post and please like it once you’ve read it, thank you !!

RULES & INFO: we're seeing a lot of questions being asked about things already explained on the main's pages OR players writing about things that are not consistent with how we've described votive and the escort system apps not following the format instructions (eg. typing in the age in digits not letters) and rules not being followed. please please please, even if you somehow don't have time to read through anything else but the rules page before applying, please make sure you go and thoroughly read them all afterwards at least. its exhausting and a bit insulting to see that people apparently haven't cared enough to read the information we took the time to provide to make roleplaying easier.

CLIENT/ESCORT RELATIONS: reminder that there would be an extensive vetting process with the guests of votive to make sure they’re not letting anyone with a criminal record or any red flags become a member. likewise, there are security measures in place to ensure the safety of the staff and escorts AND clients. we're adding these details to provide specifics: there are two emergency buttons in every room for anyone to press for help if they feel they are unsafe or in an escalating situation. every escort is also required to have votive's tracking app on their phone to make sure their location is always known when they leave the premises for a booking.

ESCORT BEHAVIOUR: following up on this, remember that the votive isn't just some cheap corner brothel; its a high-end escort service. escorts are trained extensively, treated very well, and protected. as well as being trained in pleasure, they are also trained to respond to negative situations swiftly and professionally. we should not see escorts being abused by clients, nor being abusive towards clients; and remember that such themes should ALWAYS be cleared by the admins before being roleplayed. the second a client shows any red flags, they are banned from votive and blacklisted for all brothels in the lunar district network, so please keep this in mind!

ETIQUETTE: additionally, we don't want to see any pressuring for smut in threads; please use initiative and gauge the chemistry and mood in the writing. if the other player doesn't seem to want to push the thread in the direction of smut, you can message them to check, but do not force it (whether IC or OOC).

ANONYMITY: as you all know, we have had our brush with various anon feedback, but i wanted to specifically discuss members approaching us on anon to say they feel unwelcome, or uncomfortable with something, etc. it makes our job so hard when you guys approach us on anon, because we might not have seen the issue ourselves and therefore cannot figure out if it even exists because we don’t know where or to whom its happening. likewise we don’t want to be hurting people’s feelings or making them feel bad/attacked by posting messages about them on the main, so please don’t be afraid to come to us privately about your issues! what you say remains confidential among the admin team and we will do our best to fix the problem.

UPDATE UNDER CUT; drama tw. this is just to explain so there isn’t any confusion. if anyone has any questions or issues, please come to us anytime.

this morning we removed a member because after clarke issued him a simple warning (about using admin privileges without asking permission), he posted a screenshot of the warning message in the main chat in an attempt to stir up drama and probably turn the discord against us, i assume. i deleted his message and sent him a private dm addressing this to avoid dragging everyone into this mess. he has been banned from both the discord and the roleplay. 

 i’m kinda sick of talking about drama but we feel it’s only fair for you guys to know what’s going on since some of you probably saw what happened. for future reference: we have talked about implementing the 3-strike warning system for a while but so far i think we have been very lenient with it. warnings are not callouts, they are not removal from the roleplay; they are simply to let you guys know that you may have done something against the rules so that you’ll know next time. we don’t take any sort of pleasure in sending warnings (in fact we dread it), and i think it goes without saying that we don’t want to lose members; so please remember to familiarise yourselves with the rules and ask us if you’re unsure about something. 

i’m sure there will be a lot of drama stemming from this (there already has been since i’ve written this, we recommend blocking the account since he’s used our tags for his posts), but please know that everything we do, we do to provide you guys with a safe, fun environment to write in. it isn’t fun or enjoyable for us to implement rules and enforce them, we do it because otherwise, this place would fall apart. if you ever feel we’ve been unfair or a decision we’ve made confuses you, please ask us and although we can’t always expose a member’s concerns or requests, we can try to explain. once again, i’m really sorry about this guys.

Hey guys! We love this group and everyone in it. We’re so grateful to have you as members and we want to make sure that we continue to do the best job we can to make this experience great for everyone. With that in mind, we’ve created a few more guidelines to make sure that we keep things flowing smoothly and that everyone’s plots and characters are well-protected! These additions will be applied going forward, so no retroactive action will be taken.

1. If one of your characters has been dropped due to activity, you must wait 5 days before you pick up a new character. If you are on hiatus, that 5 day period starts after you come back.

2. If you drop/switch a character, you must wait 5 days before picking up a new character.

3. You may only switch FCs for your characters 3 times without explanation. Any more will require admin approval and a rational basis for the switch.

We don’t want to put too many rules on you all and your creativity, and we definitely trust that you know how much you can handle! We just want to be sure that you’re giving your characters a real chance, and we want to ensure that our members are devoting real time and energy to the characters they have. We love you all.
