Be it as it may, Vanessa can tell whenever one of her kind is close. The vibrations in her surroundings change, the way the air bends around her, the way the sound travels. All can serve as indication for a heavely or deadly presence. With this girl, it was no different. She just wasn't quite sure what she was yet. It was best they get on well.

The bookstore’s bell chimed gently as the customer steps inside, bringing Samuel out of his focus on checking the necessities of his small-running business.
“G’day,” he greets in a very audible Australian slang before resuming in his work. A black, un-collared cat was dozing on the counter beside him, eyes closed.
Vera tugs Theodore over to her gently and snuggles him close to her.
"Oh. Hello." He murmured, wrapping his arms around her. "Are you okay?"
