rereading vowbreaker and thinking back to obi-wan saying he's made about a 50 page marriage contract in the wedding planner and how there's probably something there that says if he ever died anakin could never marry or even hold romantic interest for another person because death will not part them and anakin will always be his husband. so in his fake death he at least knows anakin can't do anything as a comforting thought meanwhile his husband is falling deeper into insanity.

mobi-wan, probably: now cody your first priority while im away is to —

cody: look after the general day to day functions of running the crime syndicate while investigating who may be behind the threats to Skywalker

mobi-wan: what? no. make sure anakin doesn’t so much as LOOK at anyone else.

cody, holding anakin back so he can’t gouge out his own eyes to stop seeing obi-wans ghost everywhere: I don’t think that’s gonna be a problem boss

post-vowbreaker anakin is getting out the handcuffs and cuffing himself to obi-wan for a while. perhaps a very long while. or he's busting out the get-along shirt. anakin is going to insist on not letting obi-wan even so much as piss without him right there isn't he? he's going to be so unhealthy and codependent and clingy and glorious isn't he? i can't wait :D

post-vowbreaker, anakin's crashout the one time he wakes up and obi-wan is not in their bed or townhouse (they absolutely move out of the loft after the whole thing's over) is so legendary that from that point on obi-wan brings his work home from the office and sits up in bed to read and make notes on his reports while holding a sleeping anakin's hand

as far as sacrifices go, it's a pretty minor one, but the fact that mobi-wan is making any kind of concession at all is sort of mind-boggling to cody (who is still not allowed within a 10 meter radius of anakin, lest knives start being thrown, post-reveal)

Im playing it so cool about pretty bird and the vow breaker you subtly perceive my totally not ravenous desire for more I light a cigarette and ask you what your plans are for that fic I do one of these cool French inhales and really give off the vibe of not insane about it

i think vowbreaker anakin deserves at least a chapter of going absolutely insane in a way that hurts his loved ones and the city and especially the mob because anakin has already decided he'd burn down the entire club with all of obi-wan's men inside and himself if it meant the guy who took obi-wan away from him was also killed

going back and forth on exactly what that insanity looks like though, of course because how best do you portray anakin skywalker going insane?? obviously with killing children, but alas there have been no children introduced in the fic </3

but that being said, i think he's definitely going to threaten to kill children <3 specifically the children of the police who came to interview him in chapter five, to ensure their compliance

and he'll definitely kill a few members of the mob who annoy him - maybe he asks for help on a reconnaissance outing, some guy volunteers, they stomp around the city for a bit, and then anakin kills him because he volunteered which means he could be the stalker wanting to get him alone

and he definitely like. punches ahsoka in the face. he obviously loved her while he was vader pre-story beginning, but this is also him post-losing obi-wan. as much as he tries to pretend, he's a whole different monster now and literally no one is safe. she probably goes to grab his arm and hold him back or something and he just decks her and leaves

he is not a productive puppy in this next chapter, his mind is like shattered glass and he is vibrating soooo out of control it's not even funny

vowbreaker wip wednesday

The first stumbling block comes sooner than expected. 

It’s also incredibly embarrassing.

Fett looks away from him, drops his smile and drops his eyes as he walks with purpose to the elevator. It is something that Skywalker has always appreciated about Cody Fett, though he’d never in a million years fess up to admiring anything about the second-in-command. But it has to be said, now at the end of the world and all things soft and precious and beautiful, that the man has always been made for action. He jumps before you can tell him how high. He doesn’t even ask; you never have to tell him twice. 

There is a plan, established between the two of them. Loose as it may be, it’s still a plan. And plans have steps, have actionable items that must be carried out.

And Fett is a man of action.

Finding clothes to wear is difficult, but it is done with extreme precision. There is no place in the entire world Anakin Skywalker knows better than this loft apartment. He has every detail memorized, locked into his mind, etched into the very fabric of his soul. So Vader knows how to sidestep the ghosts, avoid the landmines of memory so long as he doesn’t think too long about why. About how his home became a warzone, became full of fire and ash and and and

In the bedroom, Vader knows which drawers to avoid, which ones contain clothes he can bear to look at long enough to put on. Black slacks, black shirt, black turtleneck sweater. Impractical in the city heat, but it will cover the injuries on his neck, the ones on his arms. It's important to look capable and to look impervious and to look--

There’s a flash of gold in the corner of his eyes as he finishes pushing his bandaged feet into his shoes.

Anakin stares at it, frozen in the low light of the bedroom he’ll never again sleep in, in the apartment he’ll never call home again.

The words, glass shards of windowpanes, cut into the tender flesh of his mind, gouge him from the inside out.

i appreciate that on your most recent post about pretty bird the tags just cut off mid-word from cody...either anakin got him or he had to run before anakin got him :P

haha my adhd in action i think i just clicked away to another tab and forgot to finish the tag when i came back

but i can definitely imagine that for a few months in coruscant, cody gets like. wildly paranoid. the walls have eyes. the ceilings have eyes. he would not put it past skywalker to stalk him through the night, bug his house, and listen into his every conversation. obi-wan is getting impatient because cody isn't sending him daily pretty bird updates anymore which he PROMISED he would DO, and cody is like boss. boss. literally we could all die at any moment.

Cause the only person I can think of crazier than Mobi-wan is Cannon Maul ha ha anyway ignore this.

lmao wait no come back i loved what that perspective swap to the stalker's pov did for the dynamics of vowbreaker but also the universe in general by exploring a pov of someone who is ALSO obsessed with anakin skywalker but like. in a way more sinister and objectifying way.

like in a totally delusional way way that highlights that actually, despite all of his actions and his general vibe and the training regimen he put anakin through, mobi-wan really truly loves anakin and sees him as like. well probably not necessarily an EQUAL but at least like. for what he is. iirc the stalker wants anakin to be like a doll or his princess, but obi-wan has always seen anakin as a fellow monster 🙏

as for maul, maul is defo dead though that would have been interesting!! i don't think i could have made maul obsessed with anakin and not kenobi, but there could have been a story where maul kidnaps anakin to get to kenobi <3

(which is a dynamic that's explored more in the pbatmb christmas one shot)
