If tearing down statues of white dudes inhibits your ability to teach history, perhaps we should dig up their corpses and put them on display, you know like has been done with Native Americans, Egyptians and others.

PSA: If you say you don’t have white privlage, you’re the problem. I understand that some people think they don’t take advantage of their whiteness and that means they don’t have white privlage. That’s not what white privilege is. It’s not something you opt into, it’s not something you choose. They think that not seeing all black people as inferior means they aren't privlaged. That's not even proof of not being a racist let alone lack of white privilege.
White privilege is not getting a head start in life, what it is, is the privilege of not being systematically held back. It’s not getting out of the speeding ticket because of the color of your skin, it’s the privilege of not fearing for your life when you’re pulled over. White privilege isn't having the justice system work to your advantage, it's the privilege of thinking the justice system isn't fundamentally flawed and irreparably broken. White privilege isn't thinking ”violence will not lead to reform,” it is the privilege of being able to forget about each and every unarmed, innocent POC killed by police and thinking that anything less than a revolution will address the problem.
White privilege isn’t something you choose, it's not something you can give up, it's not something you can opt-out of. You can't get rid of it, you can only acknowledge it and then do something with it.
I know I have white privilege. I know I can never get rid of that. But I'm choosing to speak up and call out those that don't acknowledge that. I know those that benefit most from white privilege will never have a snowball's chance in hell at comprehending what white privilege is unless another white person explains it to them, and that's what I'm doing, while still knowing I can never truly understand the experience of a POC in America. I can’t force someone's eyes wide open, but maybe they will no longer be entirely closed.
