Oh, bloody hell. Dara missed a few notes at the realization that damnable Lamont was across the room. He did not think he had been spotted yet, but there was no mistaking that pompous stride. He stood out among the well-dressed party-goers as one who was of true noble descent and wore his linage on his sleeve, perhaps even without meaning to.
Quickly, he caught up to the others in the band. It wasn’t difficult; he found waltzes to be incredible in their simplicity for instruments of lower tones. All he had to do was keep time, which left his mind accursedly free to fret about the impostor Executioner making an already uncomfortable evening hellish for him.
Perhaps he would not notice him under the mask he had procured, but that seemed logically unlikely, given his other distinguishing features. What was he even here for, anyhow? These sorts of events Dara might easily attribute to such things as Lamont’s interests, but even so. How had he procured an invitation?
