thinking about connecticut clark and malafina and the way normally an OC like malafina would be steeped in tragedy and a chain of ever increasing miseries for the storys sake but instead just by being a normal guy clark snaps her out of that cycle and recontextualizes her into a world where the stakes are so low that nothing is a threat to her. and yet living in a world without danger is its own kind of terrifying to her because she's adapted for danger and high stakes and tension. even though connecticut is objectively safer than the context malafina seems implied to have been designed for it still feels so wrong whenever things are safe just weird and she can't help reacting in a way that shows that she has no context for it all
