pitt ship for you to bingo: Javadi/McCay (i saw one post about this and have been insane ever since)

OKAY SO i have such a thing for older woman/younger woman mentor/mentee dynamics. platonic or romantic or a secret third thing, i will be there every time! (it’s often a secret third thing). ironically though, mcvadi didn’t me until i saw a random post several months after s1 aired; i really think i just wasn’t watching in ship mode LMAO. but once they got me i read about 40 fics in one feverish evening and then made myself not think too much about them bc otherwise it would be a talder situation and i do not have the time for a talder situation right now.

anyway! mcvadi is also that secret third thing to me. they compel each other, they trigger each other, javadi wants mckay’s approval like air bc she doesn’t have her mom’s, mckay feels compelled to guide and protect this incredibly smart young person under intense pressure, the kind that breaks a lot of people.

and there’s also an underlying tension there, a thrum of Something that makes them keep watching each other. it’s how they connected on a very traumatic first ship, it’s that flash of understanding and respect and wanting more, and also approval. i think cassie also wants a good grade in being a mentor from javadi, something both normal to want and possible to achieve. so she’s softer with her.

in ship land, that can move in any direction we want. javadi gets obsessed with cassie’s stupid gold chain and cassie is haunted by javadi’s big eyes at inopportune moments. they could have an ill-advised work affair or javadi could take mental health walks that are actually an excuse to ruminate on her ill-advised crush & cassie is never the wiser. i think it’s most compelling when javadi goes after what she wants after never having the space to do so, but cassie pushes her away bc she knows from experience that this cannot end well and doesn’t want to explode their lives. what if they were both jealous assholes when the other is dating someone.

and then they get stuck in an elevator with a comatose patient during an earthquake. anything is possible in this beautiful world where the hospital hr department has other problems than ill-advised er department age gap affairs. and projection IS encouraged!

What do you think about Homestuck writ large? Do you think Homestuck was a net gain for humanity? Are you kin with Hal from Homestuck? These are all very important questions.

I don't want to get into the whole question of whether it was a net gain, since that seems like a very context-dependent and subjective question and not one that can be answered definitively.

As for Hal, I wish I had an in-character explanation for why he and I should be kin, but alas.

How did Frank’s pronouns get assigned to her? She seems to play pretty fast and loose when it comes to how she refers to herself, did she express a preference early on in her development? Is she even ‘aware’ enough to have a preference? (Sorry I just like this robot a lot and am curious)

Does the chair need to be custom? Bc that’ll be hard. It’s not ideal but a stopgap could be just Any daily use chair which would make the search broader

hm ok so the post i made is missing a bit of context unfortunately! i am in the hospital pretty regularly for tests and procedures, and i've realized that using their wheelchairs makes my life significantly better and easier, but ive also used them enough to know what my preferences are in a chair wrt back height, footrests, seats, etc.

i'm going to be alone on campus in the fall, so i need a chair that allows me to be entirelt independent. that means a low backrest, wheels that can handle outdoor terrain, a seat i can spend the whole day in comfortably (i have a persistent stress fracture in my tailbone), and footrests that dont fuck up my knees. also i'm a minor so all this has to go through my moms approval and her money.

my mom wants to get a chair that fits my needs for school, but one that we can get asap and for 400-500 usd. she is absolutely certain that getting one through insurance will take too long for it to be here in time for the fall semester and be more expensive than buying one out of pocket.

so I've been looking all month at any way to get a chair that fits my needs in that price range and will come quickly. through my search, the best option i've found is a particular used custom chair being sold on ebay, but it's on the opposite side of the country. that means we'd have to pay shipping and i wouldnt be able to try it before buying it.

everything else ive found that fits my needs has run upwards of 1000 usd, and my mom isn't willing to spend that kind of money right now. shes insistent that there must be other options but I can't find them!

so uh. tldr: it doesnt have to be used custom, thats just the scenario of the particular chair I was looking at because I can't find anything that fits my needs in my price range that isnt a used custom chair

Hi!!!!!

We do, kind of! We’ll of course light candles every night, and our dad will probably join us most nights. Tomorrow for sure he’s gonna come over and we’re gonna celebrate the first night together. Then on Sunday unfortunately we’re headed to our mom’s, where once again it’ll be me and her and our dad and our brother and our mom’s boyfriend :(. But at least I’ll get to make latkes there! And at some point I want to make Chanukah cookies, I got Chanukah themed cookie cutters so we’re going to do that. What about you?

but yes!  i will definitely crosspost here for all sellable culls to this blog which will undoubtedly include holden’s babies in the future!  his fur is VERY nice, and he’s still a baby.  i can’t wait to feel him as an adult, ugh.  cecil and tart better get ready

Why would you say such a controversial thing about cats? You need to explain why you thought it was okay to call them ugly, and tell me what other terrible things you said about them in private.

I wasn't saying it was okay to call them ugly, I just said that they are. It is a factual claim and not something that should be controversial -- there's no reason to think cats look better or worse than dogs, horses, elephants, etc., all of which have different visual appeal for different people. You could say the same thing about humans ("we are ugly"), but (1) nobody would take offense at that because we accept ugliness as part of life's rich tapestry; (2) this isn't an issue where you can simply observe that one group looks "better" than another without being accused of bigotry; (3) even if someone did, it wouldn't matter anyway, since beauty standards vary wildly from person to person, so "uglier on average" is only relevant insofar as it's correlated with other things. (Even then, if your reasoning were correct, why focus on the difference between cat-kind and dog/horse/etc. rather than on some narrower trait?)

As far as what else I might have said privately . . . this is a private blog? Most of my readers are strangers who follow me for reasons I don't know. Is asking for a list of insulting comments I made in private somehow more polite than, say, pointing out that the Soviets killed millions of innocent people or whatever?

(EDIT: Also, calling someone ugly when they aren't present has nothing to do with cruelty.)

i do!  most of it is claimed before it’s tanned, but i occasionally have excess stock posted for sale (as well as commission posts if you want something done custom!)  at my taxidermy blog @shrodingersbox
